Default 'Echelon Conspiracy' - High-Def Digest Review

Nate has reviewed 'Echelon Conspiracy.' He says this film is a rip off of a film that ripped off a certain film starring Cary Grant, only that movie had telegrams, and tiny razors, and some psychic kid who knew to put his fingers in his ears before Eva Marie Saint shot Archibald Leach... But anyway, yeah, skip this one. This Blu-ray has video that turns in a respectable performance, audio thats really sneaks up on you, and not one extra. Zero. Zilch, Cheaparoony folks. Anyway, Skip it skip it skip it.

I was one of the few to actually have seen this film in theaters. I bought it on blu-ray because I enjoyed it enough. It's not Eagle Eye, that's for sure, but it entertained me nonetheless. I won't say it's a good movie in any regard, but it worked okay enough for me.

FACT: If a movie has Ed Burns in it, it probably sucks.

Burns makes waaaaay too many crappy movies to fund his lifestyle. The problem is that his "passion projects" have never really been all that good either!

GREATER FACT: If a movie is DIRECTED by Ed Burns, look the fuck out, it will suck so hard a black hole will swallow your TV. I'm looking at you, The Groomsmen.

I'll agree with your fact, though. 27 Dresses, One Missed Call, A Sound of Thunder, major stinkers.

Bingo. 12 Rounds ain't no AFI film, but it is leap years ahead of Echelon, in all respects: acting (and that's scary), bang for the buck, fun, capable direction, and making a cheap movie look expensive.

That was a great, reviling review! The verssimilitude comparison of the "zombie" actor is really appreciated. Nice work. I will never watch this movie, in fact I wouldn't even poke it with a stick. Nateboss, your review was too kind.

I'm so very sorry.
To be fair didn't Burns direct his original project "The Brothers McMullan"? That got good reviews.

Since Blockbuster had already sent this to me before I read Nate's illuminating review I decided to give it a watch last night. This movie was absolutely inspirational, I learned so much by watching it!

1- Even if you are a computer expert much sought after by companies in far flung places such as Bangkok, never question the text messages sent to you on a PDA sent to you via DHL under suspicious circumstances from unknown sources. Follow instructions from the text messages immediately, without question.

2- If you are a computer expert much sought after by companies in far flung places such as Bangkok, telling the company exec that it was "A piece of cake" will assure them the task has been completed successfully.

3- Swinging something into a wall socket will immediately shut down the entire electrical grid in a factory.

4- There are no RadioShacks in Prague, only Yuri

5 - Hackers from Moscow usually work part time as cab drivers in Prague

6 - All people in Czech Republic are either American or Russian

7- The FBI can arrest you in Prague just as fast as they can in Toledo

8- If you just won about 200 000 euro in a suspicious way, and then been warned by the casino security to not use a cell phone, the absolutely first thing you do is to try to fool them again by using a headset. And make sure that headset has a gigantic blue flashing LED so casino security don't mistake it for something else.

9- Extended car chases in front of the Kremlin do not arouse suspicions or attention from Russian police

- Sorry, I just realized some of that should have had a spoiler tag, so I'll properly cloak the 10th tidbit of knowledge gained from this movie experience:

Spoiler:
10- That Paramount green lighted this turd from unknown but handsome 30 something Director with 2 obscure previous credits to his name confirms the casting couch must indeed be alive and well in Hollywood.
