Default 'The Deep' - High-Def Digest Review

Josh has reviewed 'The Deep.' He says this is no 'Jaws,' but it's an entertaining film that has held up pretty well over the last thirty years. This Blu-ray has a very nice video transfer, acceptable sound, and just so so extras. Worth a look.

nice review of a solid catalog effort.
this film will always be somewhat special to me because I got to go see it in the theater at the time.
the eel scared the crap out of me.
I had not been allowed to go see Jaws a few years earlier, and was devastated, so this was my chance to see a "real" PG movie.
yeah I'm old.
ahhhh where does the time go?

Yeah, you gotta love what they could get away with in a PG movie back then. WOW.

Anyways, yeah, I bought this movie accidentally from Amazon. I'm not sure how it got added to my cart, but it did. Luckily enough, I ended up enjoying the movie a great deal. I'd say its about a 3.5 out of 5....and it could have been a 4 out of 5 if they edited down the length just a tad.

EDIT - Oh yeah, this movie puts "Into the Blue" to shame!

I saw the 3 hour television version and loved it. All the added footage made the story more interesting. I wish they had included it so you could watch the whole thing. I though Blu-Ray disks had all this space on them???

well it would have looked pretty bad because the extra scenes--though in 1080p--do not look nearly as good as the rest of movie.

I didn't realize until I found out about this movie that Into the Blue was a remake of this. Oh and re: stud comment about Nick Nolte - I can't believe he ever looked like that compared to now!

I guess I'm not the best judge of dudes being a straight guy, but personally I think he wasn't all that good looking back then either... But whatever... I love trying out new films and was looking for a reason to check this out, but based on the ploy synopsis in the review. I'm just not sure I can bring my self to try out the deep.

Yeah, give this movie a rental at the very least. There is a lot more to the movie than the basic plot synopsis. On the surface level the plot seems like the plot of "Into the Blue", but everything about it is so much better, and there are a lot more twists and turns than you would expect.

Spoiler:
Have you ever seen Hatian voodoo people rape a hot chick with a bloody chicken foot?
