From what Zack Snyder said, normally on July 28th, the blu-ray will have both theatrical version + Director's Cut (2h45 -> 3h10 : 30 more minutes), and then later this year, the Extended Cut with the Black Freighter included ...

Where to begin the jokes...blu-junk on blu-ray: how it was meant to be seen? Whether the file size will be big enough to satisfy, or if compression issues will cause significant shrinkage? Will there be BD-Live streaming content, and if so, will it be "golden"? Best to stop now...
I've heard this too, though given the constant deferral of the 300 "ultra-mega-manly edition" I am wary about the release of the extended cut (if it'll actually happen, particularly). If it does see the light of day, it would be nice to also see (released at the same time) an omnibus set containing the TC/DC, the EC, and the current Black Freighter disc (which has content and extra material which likely wouldn't make it onto the EC) with some additional content: thinking the WB Casablanca set here, or the "Ultimate Matrix". However, that would both 1) be too perfect for fans, and 2) also likely piss off said fans who would have already purchased the previously-released material. At least one can hope that Snyder is right, and above-board with the information, Peter Jackson-style: letting fans know what's coming, hopefully not duplicating material across releases, etc. And in any case, I'm all over the 7/28 release. -

I liked this flick. I have read the graphic novel and I thought the film did it justice. Yes it is long..but I was alright with it. But I can see why some were put off, it is not for everybody. Looking forward to seeing this in

Love the graphic novel and the movie. But the disappointment was that he should kept and modify and use the giant squid like Alien for the invasion. I think that would be more ideal to wake up the whole world that we have a common enemy.

I havent heard very many good things about this flick so I'll be renting at the most. Too much silly gore, poorly developed characters, and even dull at times.
We'll see...but my expectations have been dropped accordingly.Pioneer KURO 50"

To be fair it probably would have cost too much for a massive sequence like that the way they did it allowed most to happen off screen and didnt ruin the movie.
Remember Warners sold the foreign rights, apparently half of the after tax takings have to go to Fox as part of their settlement with Warners and Warners paid for all the advertising, right now its doubtful they will ever make a dime from Watchmen so cutting that part of the movie out probably looks like good business now.
In the last 2 weekends (the 5th/6th) after release the movie has make a total of $1.6m which is a disaster. Snyder said there would be 3 editions Theatrical, DC and Ultimate with The Black Freighter added in but who is really going to buy all 3? -

Actually, it was pivotal to the Dr Manhattan character. He didn't care about anything anymore, that why's he tells Laurie to go dinner with John, and why he neglects to wear clothes. Besides, it was only like 15 seconds worth, and it was completely non-sexual.
If he gets freaked about 15 seconds of penis in a non-sexual context, then he'll have a heart attack during the final 5 minutes of Observe and Report.
BTW, I'll be buying it. Even with the cuts, I still could see Zach's appreciation for the source material, since there were an uncountable amount of scenes which were nearly line-for-line, shot-for-shot. Maybe for an extra special edition, they'll include a copy of the graphic novel like Dimension did for Sin City Recut and Extended.21

i'll wait for the superduper edition with all 3 cuts...
as for the movie, it had too many scenes with dr. mahattan that made the film drag and feel longer but i had no problem with the blue penis, it did show and mean that he was further and further detached from earth and didnt care at all about it. you indeed COULD tell snyder's appreciation to the graphic novel, the acting was superb in most parts except for the silk spectre II, that performance was a bit dull but her figure made up for it.
the cinematography, special effects, and cgi were extraordinary, zack snyder sure knows how to make that work to its fullest. -

Ah, discussions that have been beaten to death in the film forum.

If you have any thing to say its been said, go read those two long in depth threads haha.
Endings, violence, nudity, penis... have all been beaten to death (pun intended)
Its love it or hate it.
There's too much or not enough.
There's too faithful and not enough adaptation.
It's obvously not for everyone, but everyone should give it a try.
I think its a very important film, and it will find a second wind on bluray. I cant wait personally. Its a film that stradles the line on art, which is awesome for a blockbuster. I want more! bring on the DC!Main Setup: Mitsubishi 63" DLP/Panny BD30/HD-A35/Onkyo 705/ Sony 7.1 speaker setup.
