I like both of these and finally picked up the remake cheaply last year. I use the SD DVD as an excuse not to buy the catalog until it's super cheap. Which will likely be late summer 2010.

It's my favorite Christmas movie (1947) so I'll end up with it when it comes out, probably. *sigh*

I agree! Though I'm also a big fan of the Alastair Sim version of Christmas Carol that was announced on BD last week as well. Even though it's WAY early to think about Christmas, it's nice to know that there will be some more BD Christmas movies this year.

Anyone know if they're working on It's A Wonderful Life for blu yet?

Yet they STILL won't say if the 1947 film will be B&W, colorized, or both?

The black-and-white version is confirmed.

interesting that it doesn't even have the fake-ass colorized version.
good call Fox!
in a season of all kinds of bd complaints looks like we finally have some good news.

saw this at BB today, and stupid Fox put COLOR screenshots on the BACK when there is NO colorized version included.
I can understand having the front in color, but the back also?
that's just stupid, and will only confuse people who don't know the movie is b/w.

Yeah, definitely a bad idea. I wonder if the person who created the cover art knew it was black and white only? It could have been made prior to a final decision of including both or just the original version.

Is it odd that I like the look of the colored version? I mean, hey, I prefer "intent" all the time...however, this one in particular makes it look like a Norman Rockwell painting. Pretty sweet.

Yes.

Miracle was the first colorized movie I ever saw. I thought it was a pretty cool idea (hey, I was young); then I saw this. Absolutely awful, in my opinion. It completely turned me off on the whole idea of colorization. The ugly-ass brown suit on the kid who liked to play Santa . . . that alone made me want to shut the TV off. Plus there were obvious bits that weren't colorized at all (look at the background in the beginning, around the time Kris is bitching about the placement of the reindeer in the store window).

Maybe there's a better version than the one I saw, though.

one thing I will say is that the colorization process has come so far since the early misguided efforts of Ted Turner.
I actually took a look at the recent "It's A Wonderful Life" dvd, and was amazed at how good the colorization looked.
I could never watch that title in color though.
just feels so wrong.
but I have to say the stuff done for the Harryhausen films looks very nice.
kind of embarrassed to say that in those instances it probably enhances them.
