It's unfortunate that I already own the DVD, and it's highly likely you won't see any marked improvement over the SD version since it's anime - unless they redid the whole thing.

I surprisingly found this anime to be strictly OK. Nothing much of greatness, unless you really really like skimpy dressed chicks ALL the time. Pretty high on the boring factor. But of course, this is only my opinion.

It seriously is a very good series. I'd be tempted to pick it up, especially as I don't have the OVA. But given it is FUnimation those aholes will region lock it

The more anime on BD the better, but I'm not double dipping whole series I have and saw on DVD a couple of years back. Bring out the new series (eg Claymore, Darker than Black, Code Geass - heck I'd even buy em volume by volume) and I'll buy those over the DVD's. But once I have it on DVD because no one gave me the option for BD, unless it is a really special series, I'm not forking out again.

I've become very selective in buying my BD titles these days but anime is one "genre" that I'd like to own a lot of on BD. However, comments like this give me pause because I definitely do not want to buy something I will not watch again. I've never seen it though...man, decisions, decisions - I don't want to have to wait forever to rent the Blu-ray version in a Netflix queue when they may have limited copies. Maybe I'll just buy it, who knows. I do like the girls with guns genre. I just saw Grenadier, for example, and thought that was pretty cool/good.

For anyone who is on the fence about this series, here is the official site: http://www.funimation.com/burstangel/

And you can buy a single episode for $1.99 from here: http://www.funimation.com/f_index.cfm?page=vod

The Amazon price of $46.99 seems quite fair.

Yeah it's not possible for anime to look good in HD...

i got a copy of this set today.

unlike Devil May Cry, it is housed in a standard box set style box (just like Samurai 7) that looks really neat.
3 discs, all BD50's, one in a single case, one in a double case, includes 24 episodes and the OVA.
the only thing that has me concerned, and i'll have to pop it into my player tonite to verify, the package states the Dolby TrueHD track is for English, with a DD track for Japanese. as always, i don't fully trust packaging specs, as they change from time to time and don't get updated, so here's hoping that's a misprint.

Yeah, fantastic series. I don't have the OVA yet and see that is in the box. Tempting...
I might wait for reviews and a price drop.

But a DD Japanese language track? What sort of BS is that?

k my suspicion was correct: Packaging error.

Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1
English Dolby TrueHD 5.1, as per menus.

That said, the discs do default to the English Dub, so to watch it in Japanese, one's gotta switch it. Sorry for my delay on that one, just been busy busy busy!
