Default 'Fanboys' - High-Def Digest Review

Nate has reviewed the Canadian Import of 'Fanboys.' This movie is like a Blu-ray Jar Jar Binks. Any questions? Video is okay, audio is okay, no extras to be found. This one is for fanboys only.

So I take it this is the Kyle Newman version, not the re-cut Steven Brill version?

I don't know if I've ever disagreed with a review here more than this one. I really enjoyed the movie. I guess that makes me a "fanboy".

The reviewer really lost me here: "Trekkies (the one creature lower than a 'Star Wars' fan. That's right Trekkies, suck it.)". I don't know, "Boss", my bitch just made well over $370 million at the global box office, after 43 years in the public sphere, while your bitch is a lowly cartoon on the CN after only 32.

^^ Oh, snap!

I'll rent this since I'm also a pretty big Star Wars fan (I don't own any toys... okay, one but thats it)

This movie sounds kind of depressing though- The kid's dying wish is to see Episode I, and I assume he actually sees the movie at the end. I mean, c'mon, the movie was a big enough letdown without someone counting on it being their last great experience before death.

no clue, i know the studio cut, removed the cancer completely, but that was before the film was released, so the cut without the cancer has not been seen.

motorhead: there is more to it then just seeing episode I, as the last great experience, well you have to see it, i dont want to ruin anything.

Nowhere near as big a Star Wars as I used to be (disappointing prequels and horrible cartoons can do that to you) but I actually found this movie to be a great time-waster. I'm not gonna bother importing a low-quality BD without features but would definitely buy a US release.

I think Nate was pretty hard on it. I'd give it 3 stars which would be a 6 out of 10. I laughed way more at this than at Year One; that's for sure.

Correct. I have read about the cancer-free version of the film, but have not seen it. This film is full of cancer, if you catch my drift

I don't mind disagreement. Hell, it's kind of fun sometimes to argue something to death.

i was talking about the fans of the series, but since you want to go there, okie dokie! your bitch is just that. a bitch. there are far more bad Star Trek films than Star Wars films, both in numbers, and by percentage of films released. i mean flat bad. i haven't seen the star trek cartoon in probably close to 20 years, so i can't comment on that, but Star Wars had a bad ass series of cartoons on the CN that tied into EIII perfectly. the only thing i hope star trek ever ties is jj abrams testicles, so that hack doesn't reproduce if he hasn't already. a lucas fan calling someone else's director a hack....that's saying something.

Kristen Bell hasn't chosen a good movie since Spartan. Curse of the TV actresses...
