Default 'Children of Men' - High-Def Digest Review

Drew has reviewed 'Children of Men.' He says this movie deserves a spot in your collection. Excellent. This Blu-ray has great video and sound, along with some brain-tickling extras. Highly recommended.

I didn't even realize this was re-released onto Blu-ray, might have to pick this up.

4 stars for audio on the Blu ray's DTS HD MA and 4.5 on the HD DVD with DD+. Let the discussions begin!

I think it is interesting that in the "movie itself" review, it says he doesn't want to spoil anything and stops talking, but in the video section it mentions there being a baby in the final act without spoiler warnings. I'd put a spoiler warning on this if it wasn't already in the review. When I first saw it, I didn't know if it would end before she delivered, or if she would be killed, or what. At least most people that are interested would have seen it by now.

This was the first HD DVD I ever watched. I did really like this film and I will pick this up on Blu eventually. The HD DVD sure looked good so I figured the Blu would look awesome as well.

I've already watched this twice on BR, and while the overall look is dark and dingy (by design), the details really pop. It is a definite step up from the standard DVD, which was itself very well done.

This is one of the most underrated films of the past several years. As mentioned in the review, it has a terrific soundtrack, both as just music and in service of the story. The English scenery, both urban and countryside, is very immersive. Clive Davis is perfectly cast as the "non-hero" hero, and the small roles by Julianne Moore and Michael Caine were outstanding, I wish they both had more screen time.

Children of Men is one of those movies that stands up well to repeat viewings, in time it will become a classic of the sci-fi genre. Highly recommended.

A definite masterpeice. My has been in rotation for years now. I dunno if its worth the trade for the blu, maybe if it falls under 15bucks...

I think you can get into more of why its a masterpeice without spoiling it. It would be pretty easy to write about the social commentary and how the different implecations of saving humanity become an actual loss of humanity. Tie that in with cross cultural dynamics that speaks in volumes the whole movie, and you could write a whole essay on this movie. oh well. it is a masterpeice....

Some of the greatest one shot takes ever. And I think Clive makes this movie with a great character. Its a must own IMO.

That would be nice, but hardly relevant any more. It does seem that the special features are identical.

We picked this movie up early on. Loved it. Really surprised us. My wife usually hates apocalyptic themed movies.

The AQ and PQ were great, based on the HD I'd recommended the Blu without hesitation
