Default 'Fired Up! (Unrated)' - High-Def Digest Review

Drew has reviewed ''Fired Up! (Unrated).' He says this is sorta funny, but he really wants viewers to know that the "unrated" label is very misleading. This Blu-ray features solid audio and video and some decent extras. Recommended, but consider yourself warned.

I don't really have a desire to see this, but a couple of my friends said this was actually not half bad. Maybe a rental for me.

The review of the movie does not say much about the actual movie. The range of comedy is a surprise and non stop. Most people expect something generic from a movie like this.

This movie drove me up the wall. The two kids completely overact, with a script that tried to mirror the dialogue of 'Juno' or some other pithy teen movie, but instead just came across as trying too hard.

The film is also full of every teen stereotype known to film-dom. It's like the writers pulled out everything from the cliche bag and threw it on the floor, then organized it into a movie.

The only genuinely funny part is when they are all watching 'Bring It On' and quoting it together, other than that this movie made me want to punch kittens in the face.

So if this pales in comparison to Bring It On, and it rates three and a half stars, is the latter movie a five star spectacle? I own that movie and will give this one a rent.

these star ratings confuse me.

if you rate out of 5, then that should mean 1 star = terrible and 5 = awesome...with 3 being "it was pretty good". so this one gets 3 1/2 and yet the review sounds like he didnt like it much. if it wasnt that good, shouldn't it have gotten a 2 or worse?

anyway yeah....this "unrated" business is getting outta hand. but luckily the movies i do watch or buy tend to have a good 5-8mins if not more of extra footage so its worthy.

Kudos on the rant about unrated labeled movies. It's an overused marketing term anymore it seems.

I agree wholeheartedly with the rant about the "Unrated Version" myth. I wish more of these movies would go the Sex Drive route--now THERE'S an unrated version!

On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised with how enjoyable this movie was. I'd certainly give it a rent to see it again and maybe pick it up cheap.

I also enjoyed the flick. It was kind of an oddball little movie that didn't really strive to be anything... at all. I haven't listened to it yet, but I hear the commentary is pretty funny as well, and they actively acknowledge all the strikes against the movie.

And to note, the guy playing Dr. Rick did a fantastic job being a total douchebag.

So as a person who doesn't like cheerleading movies and is pretty tired of teen comedies, I have to still kinda sorta recommend this flick, and the eye candy didn't hurt. Just saying.

I agree with Unrated rant. I rented it on DVD and was go back and rent it on BD once I got my PS3 all fixed and I'm glad I didnt.
I enjoyed it tho. It was way better than I thought.

This movie was slammed by critics if I remember corectly. Kind of shocked me to see get the kind of review it got for the film itself. Anyway, I had no desire to see it then or now. Eveybody else though..enjoy!

I saw this at the theater and thought it was terrible.

My two favorite quotes from the film critics are:

Roger Ebert - "Oh, is this movie bad."

and Dan Lybarger - "S-U-C-K! What does this movie do? It sucks! O-M-F-G! It sucks!"

But I guess if you like films such as Bring it On or any of the other cheerleader flicks out there, you'll probably like this too.

Can't say I'd even bother with a rental to check out the transfer, unless it's the only thing on the shelf when I go to Blockbuster tomorrow.

I watched it the other day, it wasn't a great movie, but I don't think it was trying to be. It was an entertaining teen type movie, and if that's what you go into it thinking, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The two main actors did overact, but that was what the two characters were about, in my opinion, and a lot of the dialogue was pretty funny.

I'm not going to buy it, but I didn't waste 2 hours of my life watching.
