Default 'Friday the 13th (2009)' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter Bracke has reviewed the remake of 'Friday the 13th.' He says it's a disappointment that isn't even fun on its own terms. This Blu-ray features great video and audio and a few decent extras. Still, the killer cut just doesn't cut it.

I'll get a previously viewed copy from Blockbuster when it shows up. This was actually the first Jason movie I ever saw, other than the one with Freddy Kruger.

Umm the reviewer misses the whole point of Friday the 13th. You want the teens to die. They are forgetable and are supposed to be that way. You could tell from the first trailers when they used the body count that nobody was supposed to give a shit if anyone lived. I personally felt they made it a bit too much like the Texas Chainsaw remake though.

I have been a huge F13 fan for a LOOOONG time. Jason Voorhees is hands down my favorite slasher villain/monster/hero/etc of this genre. I looooved loved LOVED this movie. It was a great return to the original setting of Crystal Lake, and the original feeling of the silly 80s slasher genre. Much better than the last couple movies. I'll be picking this one up tomorrow for sure.

I liked the film but I wish it had more of a summer camp feel to it. But I am happy they rebooted this franchise because it brings a newer audience and not only that all the originals will eventually be on Blu-ray now.

I would say Peter has a pretty good idea of what he wants from Friday the 13th and what he's come to expect from the series all things considered.

I loved it and felt like Peter was a little harsh. Still a Michael Myers fan, but this refreshed Friday the 13the line for me.

I still say a silent but deadly stalker/killer is as scary as an aggressive in your face stalker/killer.

Even from the trailers you knew what you were in for. Jason coming at you full blast with a machete is scary.

Peter "only rates family films & films made before 1980 with good reviews" Bracke... I learned to ignore his reviews a long time ago. I will get this on release date. Normally I shop bargains and wait for a sale but I enjoyed it alot and want to watch it again soon.

Not sure what the reviewer was expecting, but this movie is by far the best Friday the 13th ever made. It has massive deaths, high tension suspense, and the minimal plot is what the Friday the 13th series is all about. What more do you want?

i find it funny the people who don't realize Peter's history with the film saga, considering the other 2 F13th BD's he's reviewed have actually had him in the extras.

how many times he's had to have seen each of the films, out of love for the series, or for research on points for his book...if anyone knows how to judge an F13th film...it should be someone who has a character IN THE FILM named after him.

(ahem http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0127359/ ahem)
