Default 'The Uninvited' - High-Def Digest Review

Tom has reviewed 'The Uninvited.' He says this isn't a bad thriller, just not an original one. This Blu-ray has very good video and audio but some paltry extras. This is a rental through and through.

Yeah, it could have been much worse and therefore I was also pleasantly surprised. The older sister and Liz Banks are wonderful to look at too so that was a bonus.

Definitely worth a watch, IMO.

I have been excited for this movie...yet I have still not see it. It's been getting a lot of great reviews, one from Roger Ebert himself!

I didn't think Dreamworks could fuck this up since it wasn't such a culturally sensitive movie like "My Sassy Girl" and dependent on those devices to be more poignant. Sorry to hear I'm wrong and Dreamworks DID fuck up this remake by the review.
The original movie, which I advise you ALL to see, has a stellar minimal soundtrack and is one big mindfuck. I highly suggest you see the original first. My only lamentation in that is since Tartan is gone we have YET to see this released on Blu-ray. When it is I will only accept a Lossless soundtrack as well since anything less would be criminal.
Don't soil your experience of seeing the original by watching the knockoff first.

Original was much creepier, remake has better eye candy. While I liked the way the original ended, I didn't like the way it was handled (came off as
Spoiler:
Mulholland Drive-lite
). The remake doesn't do it drastically different (though it isn't the exact same ending, close though) but it felt handled slightly better.

Both are worth watching, I don't think you lose anything from watching one before the other, though. The ride to the finale is definitely better in the original, though.

Oh and why is Mirrors referenced as an example of "not liking remakes". The remake of Mirrors wasn't much of an improvement (it was about on par, just different), but it was a terrible flick to start with.

The original is classic and incredibly lush.
Pacing was better as was creep factor.

See the original !!!

I loved the original, but I was surprised how good the remake was. The cast did well and while not as creepy as "Sisters," this movie was okay.

I liked this movie allot more than I thought I would when i saw it in theaters back at the end of January. I have seen a Tale of Two sisters but not in a long time white i remember i liked that as well. The ending of this was a good twist and it improved the movie for me plus Emily Browning is quite nice to look at and so is her older sister Ariell Kebell(spelling?) oh and elizabeth banks was good in this as well the whole cast turned in great performances here. Check this one out you may like it.
