Inside Man- MAJOR audio problem
Hey all,
Just watched my review copy of Inside Man and we have a major problem.
There's no surround right channel encoded on the DTS-MA english track.
I thought it might have been my setup but I tried it on two different players and switched to the other audio options. English is the only one that seems to be affected.
I wonder if we can get the Digital Bits on this.
Does anyone else have a review copy that can confirm?
CORRECTION:
It's not the whole movie! I just re-watched parts of it and tried to pinpoint when it goes out. It seems like it's in the middle of chapter 15, about 1 hour and 32 minutes into the movie. The channel is dead. I had my head right up to the speaker. Music is going in and out of every other channel, including the surround left. It's dead quiet and remains that way for the rest of the movie.
A good check is the music in the closing credits. It's blaring in all speakers but the surround right.Last edited by DigitalFreakNYC; 05-16-2009 at 11:17 PM.

It could just be your copy.

I will try it out tomorrow to see if I have the same results.

Hmm. Well let's see. DVDBeaver reviewed it and had no problems. Blu-ray.com gave it a 5 for audio. Perhaps it IS just your copy and you should stop pouting when someone suggests such a thing, because you can just trade it in instead of waiting for a trade-in program.
It seems like such a major thing would be noticed by reviewers. I'm sorry your planned mass hysteria isn't going off with much success. -

On Blu-ray.com, this is described as a minor problem.
Cross-posting confusion?

Well there was a post elsewhere and there wasn't a problem with the HD DVD. I didn't buy that waiting for the release of this to BD and now it appears it will be an even longer wait since I was set to but it on release day.
I'd say it is a MAJOR problem to the point of me not buying it, that isn't minor. I cannot see why anyone would want to listen to that track unless you are going to disconnect your other rear speaker. I'd say it would be distracting and quite noticeable limiting your HT experience with this movie. -

It's going quite nicely on blu-ray.com
It's been confirmed. There's nothing happening in that right surround channel.
The "powers that be" over at The Digital Bits are contacting Universal. Perhaps it will be delayed or even a recall.
If you don't care, then get the hell out of this thread.Last edited by DigitalFreakNYC; 05-17-2009 at 09:34 AM.

This is clearly a new encode for the disc. The feature alone is over 41gb so it's entirely possible something got screwed up.

Im not sure why you feel the need to talk down to a person because he responded to you with "uh doubtful". No where does that equal him pouting or having mass hysteria.
You should probably take your own advice regarding 'pouting'.
DigitalFreakNYC, thanks for bringing this up. I was getting ready to grab this on blu since Im going to be passing my HD DVDs to my Dad. Guess I will be holding off on this till more information comes out. -

Yeah, same issue. Hopefully Bill or Jeff can help work out this issue, because clearly they don't always have the best Universal contacts. (See Bourne) They are probably the best chance though.
