Default 'Blades of Glory' -- pre-release buzz

Paramount has just announced 'Blades of Glory' for Blu-ray release on August 28:

No specs yet, but should be a good one. Saw the film in the theater and it looked quite good, actually. And was pretty funny, too. Will be looking forward to it...

Wow, cancelled a week before release. I wonder what they are gonna do with all the discs the pressed.

Eventhough I'm format neutral, I will not buy this on HD-DVD, it lacks the uncompressed sound.

How do you know they pressed the discs, this could have been a planned thing for quite a while. Maybe after they pressed the Disturbia discs, hence the lack of announcements for high def releases of Transformers of Shrek The Third until this announcement.

I figured they did because of the update on the uncompressed audio they added to the disc.

They had to have pressed the discs already, it comes out in about a week. I just put in a pre-order on amazon, we'll see what happens. I was gonna buy the BD over the HD due to the PCM, but I'm kinda sad now. At least before I could choose the better disc due to codecs/extras. But now I can't.

Patsfan123, the discs would be pressed already had they bearly decided to go format exclusive today. This could have been decided when Disturbia released, and just cancelled Blades Of Glory, so no loss. Had they pressed the discs already, I bet they would have waited to announce exclusivity until after the release of this movie.... so i'm assuming they didn't press the discs.

The back cover scans over at Axel Music are pretty convincing evidence to me that they have been pressed. However, I would entirely agree with you if those scans hadn't come to light. I wonder if this means they are gonna pull all of the BD releases or just wait for them to sell out. I might be picking up a copy of Disturbia this week, eventhough I planned on waiting until I could grab it for $15-20 shipped.

I'm pretty sure they will just stop producing, rather than pull their current titles. Are the back cover scans from an actual copy of the Blu-ray movie, or are they just a the back cover...because back covers and covers are released weeks if not months ahead usually.

Damn! I'm format neutral, but I wanted the BD version since I take my PS3 to a friends and was going to show off this movie. Oh, well...HD-DVD...I guess.

I really dont think they were pressed up considering Blades was in the press release. I dont think the title would of been listed if theres a chance consumers would see it still on blu at retail outlets. They clearly said it starts with Blades
