Default Coraline / July 21st

From BD.com:
Quote:
Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that it will bring the stop-motion fantasy film 'Coraline' to Blu-ray on July 21, day-and-date with the DVD release. The film will be presented in both its 2-D and 3-D versions on a two-disc edition, with 1.85:1 1080p VC-1 video accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Bonus features are as follows:
  • Feature commentary with director Henry Selick and composer Bruno Coulais (on 2-D and 3-D versions)
  • U-Control (on 2-D version only):
    • Picture-in-picture
    • Tours and voice sessions
    • Animatic picture-in-picture
  • Deleted scenes
  • The Making of 'Coraline'
  • Voicing the Characters
  • Creepy Coraline
  • D-Box
  • BD Live:
    • My Scenes Sharing
    • The World According to Henry
  • Digital copy of 2-D version (expires July 31, 2010)
Also included will be four pairs of 3-D glasses.

'Coraline' is based on a novella by Neil Gaiman and directed by Henry Selick ('The Nightmare Before Christmas'). In it, a young girl called Coraline finds a secret door in the home she and her parents just moved into; she crosses the door, and discovers an alternate version of her own life and family. It grossed $75 million at the US box office, and critical reception was enthusiastic.
Sounds good to me.

This is a day 1 purchase and one of the primary reasons I'm back with blu-ray after a vacation. My daughter's been waiting for the release so can't wait.

Awesome!!!!

I just hope they also include Spanish subs / dubs, given its Universal, I won't worry about it.

Day one!

I really liked this movie. I will probably buy this.

Does anyone else get raging headaches watching anything in 3D, though? The last time I tried I was literally sick the rest of the night and just ended up having to sleep it off.

This is a must buy, but why did it take so long? I mean The Watchmen came out a month later and is a week after this comes out.

Will be a blind buy for me as I did not get to see it in the theater. I'm sure that it was a treat in 3D!

Yeah I tried watching The Polar Express in 3D and had to turn it off after about 15 minutes.

Was this at home with red/blue glasses or in theater with polarized ones?

It's not coming out in Australian cinemas until August, so it'll be a blind buy for me.

Does anybody else NOT? All I ever hear is that people can't do it... I invite friends over to watch movies in 3D and practically none of them make it far... but it has NEVER once bothered me.

My secondary TV is in my livingroom and is a 42" Panasonic Viera 1080p plasma screen. I've got a Samsung BD-UP5000 connected to that for all my HD needs. No surround sound there, though.
