Default Midnight Express / July 21st

I could have sworn there was a thread for this already but a search turned up nothing....

Anyway,

from BD.com
Quote:
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the 1978 film 'Midnight Express' to Blu-ray on July 21st. The release will come with a booklet, and while we are still not sure what the booklet will contain, we expect it will be similar to their Blu-ray release of 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'. Video will be presented in 1.85:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

Extras for this release include:
  • Commentary with Director Alan Parker
  • The Producers
  • The Production
  • The Finished Film
  • Photo Gallery
I wonder if the 'booklet' is really a digibook like Strangelove?

The movie is pretty decent. The book is far better though.

The problem with the movie for me is the ending of the book is far far superior (and accurate) while the movie settled with a quick cop-out.

Bollocks. If they were gonna do an Alan Parker film on Blu-ray, why the hell not "Pink Floyd's The Wall"?

I don't know, I'd rather have a critically acclaimed true(ish) story over something that is best watched when tripping on acid.
