Default Rome Complete Series, Sopranos S1 4Q09!

Great news -- if still not OFFICIAL news -- by way of blu-ray.com:

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=2668

"We have learned through inside sources that HBO is planning to release 'Rome' on Blu-ray this winter as part of a gift set that will include both seasons of the critically acclaimed series. Additionally, we have learned that they are also preparing to release 'The Sopranos: Season One' on Blu-ray for a winter release.

This would be the first time that 'Rome' saw Blu-ray release, but HBO has already released 'The Sopranos: Season Six, Part I' and 'The Sopranos: Season Six, Part II' on Blu-ray previously, so this is hopefully the start of effort to release all the seasons of the popular show on Blu-ray.

No technical specs or special features have been announced at this time. HBO was unable to confirm or deny this information at time of press. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available."

Rome in 1080p?

These will most certainly cost a fortune, but with any luck we'll see the same kinds of deep discounts as with Band of Brothers.

Now bring on Deadwood, HBO, and you'll have all my money...

The Rome blu giftset is up at AMZ for $97.99 (standard 30% off MSRP, still no release date or details). Less than I was expecting; I'm THIS close to preordering now and crossing my fingers for a prerelease dip to 35-40% off...

Oh hell, I'm just going to preorder it.

Hmmm, I might be interested in rebuying buying Seasons 1-4 of the Sopranos in HD for the right price. They should give us DVD owners a break though.

I know The Sopranos complete series on DVD is around $325, but I still would pick up the complete series on blu on day one at any price. I really don't want to buy them @ $55 per individually.

I'm totally getting The Sopranos.

I just really hope that all of the seasons share the new content with the sopranos boxset that came out on dvd.
