Default 'Sin City' - High-Def Digest Review

Drew Taylor has just completed an exhaustive review of 'Sin City.' He says this is AV dynamite! This Blu-ray has five star audio, five star video, five star supplements, and the movie rocks too! MUST OWN! MUST OWN!

Oh, and you forgot to give props to the 15 minute cooking school: Sin City breakfast tacos.

I made some, and they are awesome!

Not surprised by the terrific review as the Canadian disc looked pretty damn good. Definitely picking this up soon.

It's a Disney movie, would we except anything less than 5 stars for both PQ and AQ. Not counting Gangs of New York of course.

Don't point out all the movies that didn't get 5 starts, I know they exist.

Yeah this is one of those DVD's I bought that definitely will get replaced by the Blu ray eventually. I was hoping they would do different covers like they did with the DVD's. Oh well.

This disc also comes with a $10 MIR for DVD owners too, right? I wish they would have compared it to the Canadian version, but I already sold mine anyway, so now I'm just waiting for the price to drop on this before I buy it for the 3rd time...

One thing that I have noticed with ALL previous versions (i.e. original DVD, recut DVD, Canadian Blu-ray) is that the dialogue, while clear, has a noticeable amount of background noise, particularly during the Marv voiceovers.

Has anybody else noticed this? It only happens on Sin City, so I doubt it is my equipment or settings (although my amp is only Dolby Digital/DTS, no hi-def audio yet!)... but I have yet to see any review acknowledge this. And I seriously doubt it has been cleaned up for this release.

Regardless, I will still be buying this on realease day here in the land of Oz.
One of my all-time fave movies!

there are a few reviews that mention this. you just have to find them. the thing is, not everyone can hear it, so it would take a reviewer who CAN hear this sound, to mention it in their review. I still can hear it, though not as much as I could before.

The background noise, in this instance, is called ringing. The thing is, not everyone can hear it, and it isn't an issue that changes due to audio equipment, or lossy vs lossless sound.

It has not been "cleaned up" for this release.

There is a deep discussion of this issue in the pre-release thread for this film, where reviewer Josh absolutely NAILS it with his post. I hope this helps, CM.
