Oh awesome. I was gonna pick up a shark week DVD set from Wal-Mart a month or two back, but then I decided not to. Good thing I didn't. Can't wait til this release comes out.

I have both boxed sets for shark week. I want to know what's on this before I pick it up.

From the looks of the Amazon listing, MythBusters, Dirty Jobs, and Survivorman are on there, at least. I'll pick it up for MB and DJ on BD.

I have always been a fan of 'Shark Week' on Discovery. I might have to get this one if the reviews are good.

Awesome!! I was waiting for some of discovery's shark programming to make it to bluray!! I'm really stoaked about this news! I ended up getting a survivor man speacial on DVD over christmas, it was alright but you could tell it was really lacking in detail. bluray is going to rock hard core for this!

I remember when I first started watching Shark Week, all I saw was hours and hours full of people who got chewed to chunks, hated going to the beach for awhile.

With Shark Week currently going on, I thought this deserved a bump. I'm thinking about scooping this for $19.99 from amazon, has anyone took the plunge and picked this up yet? Any VQ impressions?

wow, completely forgot about this before the bump... added it to my wishlist, I can't believe just yesterday I was thinking "wouldn't it be cool to have some sharkweek bluray out"... I kind of wish they'd put out packages of annual sharkweeks, but this will certainly do.

If the programs look just as good on Blu as they do on Discovery HD, I will most certainly have to jump on this as well, but I've yet to hear from one person that has it. I saw it in Best Buy over last week and it has a real nice looking glossy slipcase with it as well. Almost like the same blue watery background that Ghostbusters has.

Actually I imagine it should look better... On discovery HD you run into quite a bit of banding and other compression related issues due to the limitations of cable HD broadcast (or yeah, even satallite). You should get a lot less of that on bluray, or at the very least I certainly hope you do. Banding is a big problem for sharkweek since the variants of blues and greens tend to create a lot of such noticible problems on low bandwidth HD.

huh, I'm actually a little dissapointed this wasn't broken up onto seperate discs in order to maintain higher quality. Perhaps where one instance where the greater storage capacity of bluray works against the format, it tempted discovery a little too much to cheap out on production. Oh well, on my buy list is squarly where this one remains.
