as stated before the PETER JACKSON is the reason we are not getting extended versions yet.
He wants more time to work on all the special features, etc. etc.

Hopefully the Netflix queue won't be too long, as probably a lot of people may rent and hold out for the extended editions as a purchase.

^ I know I will be holding out for the EE's. I'm too spoiled by their greatness to sit through the theatrical editions anymore. I've tried to watch them and just find myself missing all the extras scenes, which throws off my viewing experience.

Also the Appendices (the 4-hour making of docs for each film) will not be included in this box set either. Those are essential viewing for fans. $23.99 per film is steep for basic theatrical editions. I hope to only have to pay that per film for the EE's & Appendices.

I think I will Netflix the first one to see what we've got for PQ & AQ. I'm expecting great things.

These movies have me so conflicted...I really want this on blu. I guess I would want the extended editions but im not sure if I really like them over the theatrical ones. Sometimes It doesnt flow as well you know? But I KNOW I would double dip once the EEs came out...

I am with you I want these, bad I have 106 inch projector screen and 1080P would look amazing but I just dont want to get both versions.

I just cant watch the theatrical cuts anymore knowing that I could be watching the extended cuts instead. Even on Blu-ray.

I have absolutely no problem with buying this, and will be doing so on day one. Personally the EE are a bit too long for my taste anyway, and I hold the theatrical cuts closer since that's what I watched for years.

I have read like 3 threads now where seemingly every single person "claims" they will not be buying these theatrical cuts.
All I can do is laugh my face off because I don't believe it for one second.
When this release comes out every single person on here will most likely buy it.
Why can't people just admit it?
I think I'll start counting how many times I read the folowing post from now until release day--
"No extended release--no purchase"

Count me as another who will wait for the EE for a purchase. I will give the TE a rent to tide me over, but it would be a waste of $$$$ for me to own these since the superior EE will be out at some point and at that point the TE would be useless to me..........I dont see any reason AT ALL to buy these, but every reason to rent
