Default 'Unfaithful' - High-Def Digest Review

'Unfaithful' has been reviewed. The movie itself features strong performances and great photography. This Blu-ray has strong video and audio and a nice number of supplements. Worth a rental.

I kind of disagree with the 2 stars for the movie.

When Gere first finds out about his wife...you almost feel sick to your stomach, as I imagined he did.

I mean seriously, for those of us that are married...can you imagine the feeling? My stomach would feel like a ton and sink to the floor....I remember feeling a similar sensation when...
Spoiler:
Gere is in the apartment and sees the messy bed and such after his wife's little "session", and he starts to get dizzy and stops making sense. And then when he sees the snowglobe that HE gave her in this other guys house!!! Seriously, after seeing that and imagining your wife with this f*****...how many of us wouldn't want to do what he then does afterwards???

While the movie may be a little slow and drag at times...I thought they were some very visceral moments.
Spoiler:
Both sexual/physical and emotional

My 2 cents...

Yeah, I understand Totally man, I can't actually watch the movie again cuz it hits a bit too close to home. My wife (with whom I'm still with btw (thank god and a lot of work) did the same and the movie has taken on a whole different meaning to me

That's what I am saying. I don't wish it on anyone (my apologies to you, though it appears you worked it out), but at some points in the movie it's almost as if you feel it personally. Like in a "makes you sick", raw kind of way. It's hard to describe.

Got to watch this the other month. I'd forgotten how good the film is. When I first saw it I thought it was a lesser version of FATAL ATTRACTION as both dealt with infidelity. What I later understood is while Fatal Attraction was more about the emotionally unbalanced other woman, this film was about infidelity and the effects it has on the one who's committing it and the person who the victim of it.

As for the BD, I was shocked how good this looked and sounded. The picture was beautiful, more beautiful than you'd expect from an Adrian Lyne film as his films can look a bit grungy. Colors and sharpness were excellent. As for the audio, more involving than i'd imagined. The opening sequence with the winds was very powerful, the dialogue was excellent and when called on, the scenes with ambience were there.

Very impressive disc.

To heck with the haters, this movie was HOT.

The movie started on a very subdued pace and I was totally caught off guard when things heated up.

Saw this in the theater with my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I remember feeling a little uncomfortable. I love when a movie draws out an emotion that's so tangible. Almost makes me wanna buy this to go through those emotions again.
