Default 'Children of the Corn' -- pre-release thread

The Blu-ray of the year has been announced!

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/childrenofthecorn.html

Newly remastered, the original slasher classic gets 1080p/AVC video and TrueHD audio.

There's many new extras, including audio commentary with the director and actors, a new interview with Linda Hamilton, three featurettes, still gallery, storyboards and the trailer.

No MSRP yet, but street date is May 28.

About time Anchor Bay sends more horror our way. They have a fantastic catalog and apparently have no desire to touch most of it. Hopefully this and Hellraiser signal the start of more release from them.

That movie freak'd me out good as a teenager... Found and watched it sometime last year flipping through channels in my motel room.... I remember thinking "Wow - not freaky at all to me now" and "Wow, people dressed stupid back then" and "man have the paces of movies increased since then".... Same thoughts occured to me watching Halloween on blu-ray -

It will be interesting to see what they can pull out for a transfer.

I wish more movies would return to the pace of old, rather than the flash cut cut cut of new.

I'll be grabbing this disc... have loved the movie since i was a kid......

same here, I remember being really freaked out by this as a kid but have not seen it since then, I doubt it would have the same effect now but I would still like to see it again, especially on

I thought the exact same thing about pacing watching 'Bullet" on Blu with my wife.

That said, Halloween, for me is almost all about the score. Carpenter absolutely nails it.

Side note. Can someone explain the differences between this movie and Village of the Damned, I seem to confuse the two. Thanks.

I like the original Halloween basically for the score, and the scenes with michael. Basically for the same reasons everyone else likes it.

The remake on the other hand I find to be a powerful (if cliche) movie on an emotional level...the introduction shows he was messed up from the beginning, but it took something to trigger the madness. Eventually, the violent side of him took over. And then there's scout

Anyways, back on topic. I'll probably end up getting this blu ray, as long as it's not more than $20,. I haven't seen it, but it's been on my list of horror movies to see for a while

SPECIAL NOTE: Though the official release date of this title remains 8/25, fans take note--the BD is already available as of TODAY, 6/30, via an exclusive, though unadvertised, deal with Best Buy (price: $24.99)! I bought it today and, man, it looks far, far better than it has any right to (some slight gate weave is my only nitpick)! Every bonus feature from the 20th Anniversary Edition SD-DVD has been migrated over except for the DVD-ROM screenplay. If you go to bestbuy.com, it'll still show a release date of 8/25 but if you do a check of your local stores' inventories, chances are very high that you'll find it in stock. Enjoy! I know I will!

Me too. Im quite sure I'll find it silly as any non-13 year old would. But, it will be a fun Nutflix rental.

Forewarning, knowing your distate in low-rent VFX--there's a "big" special effect sequence at the end that's gonna take you out of the movie big-time. Looks like it was done for $2 and a Snickers bar.
