Default 'Ronin' - High-Def Digest Review

David has reviewed 'Ronin.' First of all, the car chases alone make this one worth a look. Unfortunately, this Blu-ray cries out for a double dip, with sub-par video, fairly strong audio, but no extras. Worth a look, but 'Ronin' deserves better.

What a shame about the PQ. You'd think relatively recent films from the 90's and newer would look great every time but this disc is unfortunately another that proves otherwise. Thanks for nothing MGM.

In my opinion, if you've never seen it, or if you REALLY love it, it's worth a look. I have this on DVD and had heard bad word of mouth on the transfer for the Blu-ray, but I couldn't help myself. David's review is dead on, but I do think it's a slight bump up from the standard DVD edition I bought back in my college days.

First the movie deserves at least a 4.5. Second I thought the picture looked pretty good. 3.5/5

I'll get this, but I'm going to wait for a price drop. After all, it is highly unlikely that Fox will EVER release it again on Blu-Ray, at least in better quality.

I'm also waiting for a price drop, but I enjoyed this movie on multiple occasions.

I'll go buy it tommorow....................I sold my dvd copy years ago when I got rid of like 1000 DVD's. I'm been waiting for this to hit HD for years, I guess the low PQ rating is going to have to do???

Love the movie, but f*ck it, I'm keeping the DVD. No way I'm going to 'reward' this shoddy work by buying this anytime soon. I might get it used or when it hits the bargain bins, if ever.

Strangely enough, this exact same Blu-ray disc has been available for over a year in Europe. I've got for several months, and I have to say it's not as bad as people might make it out. Sure, it's hardly reference quality; colors are muted and the picture has an overall roughness to it that seems almost typical of MPEG-2 transfers. But despite that, it's still unmistakably high-def and probably the best the movie has ever looked. There are certainly no "am I looking at a DVD here?" moments in this movie, as with some of the worst transfers around.

I apologize for the off topic post but when is HDD going to change the In The Spotlight review? I'm sick of looking at that butt ugly Julia Roberts every time I come to this site.

everyone's tastes in films differ. hence, the movie score, the reviewer has his own opinion on ronin.

as for the picture, 2.5 is generous. this is an ugly looking blu-ray. it's bush league. i have to disagree with you full heartedly on that point.
