Default 'John Adams' -- pre-release thread

HBO (via Warner) has announced the Emmy-winning miniseries for Blu:

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/johnadams.html

It features the complete miniseries spread across three BD-50s, with 1080p video and DTS-MA audio.

There are only two extras listed, "Facts are Stubborn Things" and "Who's Who in History," though no info on what they are actually.

Street date is June 16, and MSRP $79.99.

Was holding off on the dvd of this as well. I'm not sure if i'll buy day of or wait for a possible goldbox deal down the road, like nabbing band of brothers for 34.99.

Tempting to wait, but I probably won't. Based on the MSRP, this should be $50-55 at Amazon on release week. To me, that is well worth the money for such a quality show that runs 501 minutes.

At least that is how I justify it..

Seriously, what took them so long?

I would have bought this, but all that was out when I was excited to own it was the DVD set, so I bought that.

Nice going!

It's nice to see them putting out some reasonably priced MSRPs lately. This is a very decent price for this series and between this and the Star Trek Collection maybe we're making some very good pricing progress.

People just are not going to shell out $100+ for sets like these to get them on Blu-ray.

I will probably end up doing the same thing, i just hate having to kick myself everytime I see these things go on sale for about half the price originally paid. For example, I own A LOT of anime, more than half individual discs with the rest being complete series box sets. And now best buy has half off their anime which encompasses a good 25 percent of what I already paid full price for! Makes me a sad panda!
