Should be a good one, considering it's supposed to be Hal Jordan. Can't wait to see the specs and trailer.

Green Lantern: First Flight Come To DVD & Blu-Ray On July 28

The fabric of intergalactic justice is threatened – until Hal Jordan arrives for his initial mission – in the animated Green Lantern: First Flight, the fifth entry in the popular DVD series of DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movies. A co-production of Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation, the illuminated hero’s first-ever full-length animated film is set for release by Warner Home Video on July 28, 2009. Meloni is joined by fellow Emmy Award nominee Victor Garber (Milk, Titanic) as the villainous Sinestro, Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) as the voice of Boodikka, and Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs) as Kilowog.

Produced by animation legend Bruce Timm, Green Lantern: First Flight is helmed by heralded director Lauren Montgomery (Wonder Woman, Superman Doomsday) and scripted by four-time Emmy Award-winning writer Alan Burnett (The Batman).

Green Lantern: First Flight finds Hal Jordan recruited to join the Green Lantern Corps and placed under the supervision of respected senior Lantern Sinestro. The earthling soon discovers his mentor is actually the central figure in a secret conspiracy that threatens the philosophies, traditions and hierarchy of the entire Green Lantern Corps. I'd heard "Doomsday" was doomed.
Or, was it the writing/story (only)?
So, w/Alan Burnett (The Batman) has this thing got a chance of being great?

Pretty pricey!!!
(especially for a "DtV")

Looks like they are on the right track:

I thought "Doomsday" was pretty good, but I wasn't crazy about the original comics, so I thought they actually improved upon the comic storyline. Most of the negatives I heard about Doomsday were about the changes to the original comics.

So the cover art looks nice, and it's great to see that it is Hal Jordan... I'd been pissed if it wasn't. Be cool if they did a green case, like the 'Incredible Hulk' release.

Look at me, SweetBrownSugar, I used the search function...

Nice. And finally, a high quality release of a Duck Dodgers episode! Big fan here, and that's one of my fave episodes.

Does anyone know if this is TrueHD or DD5.1? I see that the HDD lists it as TrueHD but the info that I'm Blu listed says Dolby Surround, which would indicate DD5.1. I don't trust Warner as they have changed their audio encodes in the past.

Out of all of DC animation on BD, I've only bought Justice League: New Frontier as it's the only one that is lossless. I refuse to buy lossy BDs. Don't want to double dip in the future. I'm sure I'm missing some good DC animation but I must stick to my set rules.

The only one who loses in that situation is you.

I'm looking forward to this movie. I still need to pick up Wonder Woman too.

I thought Superman Doomsday was good, though the voice actors were definitely inferior to the original animated series. The changes from the comic were indeed jarring, but nothing I couldn't live with.
