Default 'The Reader' -- pre-release thread

Weinstein Co. has announced the Kate Winslet Oscar getter for Blu:

Extras include five featurettes and a dozen deleted scenes.

Strangely, the Blu arrives two weeks after the DVD, on April 28.

    MSRP is $34.95.

I'm bitter about this movie because it got a lot of nominations that movies like The Wrestler deserved.

That being said, it'll be cool to finally catch it on Blu-ray.

its a mediocre film at best and there was probably at least 5 films more deserving of some of the nominations it got at the Oscars i might pick it up eventually if it ever hits around $10ish, and it still wont be a priority then...

The popular perception is that the nominations that The Reader 'stole' were taken from The Dark Knight, not The Wrestler, as the Producers Guild Awards usually are right on with the films nominated for Best Picture. The PGA nominees were the same as the Academy's except TDK was there instead of The Reader. Even then, the next in line was more than likely Doubt. I would have put the Wrestler in my top 5 this year.

This remains the only one of 5 BP noms I didn't see this year so I look forward to it!
