    Default 'M:I-2' - High-Def Digest Review

Just posted Peter's review of 'M:I-2,' (aka: 'Mission: Impossible 2'). Unlike many, he actually preferred this second installment of the series over the original. As a Blu-ray release, Peter says this one boasts the same nice video, audio and supplements package that accompanied the film when it originally debuted on Blu-ray as part of 'The Ultimate Missions Collection,' making this stand-alone edition of 'M:I-2' an easy recommend for fans of the film.

Paramount and their 640kbps for sound... I'm getting tired of it!

They need to tell us why they are doing this!

Mabye you should get a HD-DVD player. Right now at Best Buy you can get a Toshiba HD-DVD player for $299 and if you buy either of the Matrix box sets ($80-$90) you get TWO FREE HD-DVD's instantly in store. On top of all that you get a rebate from Toshiba for FIVE FREE HD-DVD's. So for $380 you get a HD-DVD player, the Matrix box set, and seven free HD-DVD'S, thats $245 woth of free dvd's (7*$35)!!! That's a total value of $625.

So to all who complain about the sound of blu-ray...why don't you try out the format that "sounds better".....HD-DVD?

Is this smack down or BD general discussion? If you look at reviewer sites, across the board you will see that BD is the format that "sounds better."

1.5Mbps DD+ isn't anything to brag about, either, especially when Dolby TrueHD, DTS-MA or LPCM can be used. I also have an HD DVD player and I still complain about Paramount's audio because they are the only studio, AFAIK, that has not used any kind of lossless audio. Titles with aggressive and dynamic audio like the Mission: Impossible series, Flags of Our Fathers (Sound Editing Oscar nominee), and Dreamgirls (Sound Mixing Oscar winner) deserve nothing less than lossless audio.

"I think mine would look better if it was in Dubly" - Nigel Tufnel

"The PCM 5.1 mix is clearly superior -- it could bitch-slap the Dolby with one hand tied behind its back." - Peter M. Bracke

"I know what the final product should look like - Blu Ray suits my films better," - Michael Bay, director/producer
