Default 'Body of Lies' - High-Def Digest Review

David has reviewed 'Body of Lies.' He says it's a fine return to form for Ridley Scott. This Blu-ray has stunning video, excellent audio, and meaty extras. Recommended.

Yeah he was excellent, totally stole the show whenever he was on screen, but if you liked him in this then you should check out Rock N' Rolla - he is totally bad ass in that too

i found this to be one of Scott's lesser works. still, the audio and video getting near top scores is SPOT on. this is one AMAZING disc!

I'd like this movie a lot more if not for the pointless love story that takes over the plot in the second half. As it is, I think Ridley's brother Tony did a better job when he made this movie 8 year ago and called it Spy Game. The story wasn't any more plausible in that one, but it was a lot more fun.

(What is up with Ridley Scott remaking his brother's movies anyway? G.I. Jane is practically a scene-for-scene remake of Top Gun, just substituting a girl for a boy in the lead. And now this. Will he be doing his own "reimagining" of Days of Thunder next?)

On a technical level, I found the lack of bass in the soundtrack more troubling than David did. There are quite a few explosions in this movie, and they're all sonically dead. It sounds like someone mistakenly dropped the .1 channel from the 5.1 mix.

Wow, great review that's got me hyped for this one. Never caught it in theaters, so this should be a good treat on Blu!

.
I totally agree about the romance, it was a complete waste of time. Besides that i thoroughly enjoyed this movie and thought it was miles better then spy game. Imho, Body of lies is a much more bad ass spy thriller then spy games since it has a much more believable and plausible story.

I also thought the love story was kinda shoehorned in, one thing the review doesnt mention is total change of pace and almost tone in the second half. Which is a shame because the first half is so badass. I still agree the movie is pretty good though, although for me its 3.5/5 stars. I would say rent it first though.

With the sound issue, I almost guarentee that if you check the stats, its another WB 1.5mbps trueHD track at 16 bits, IMO warner when they finally give us highres audio they give the bare minium and I have found they lack alot of the nice bass and dynamics, that Universal's dts 24bits and even paramounts trueHD 24bit tracks. and NONE of those clock in at a 1.5mbps. Its effing lossy Warner! not lossless.

I enjoyed this movie when I saw it theatrically. I have seen a bootleg version since, just to give it a second view before it's released. I may get it - If the UK price is right. It missed the mark on quite a few different levels though, at least, in my opinion.

just watched it and its not bad but not great.. not worth a buy and not worth 4 stars.. i'd give it a 2.5/5average. character development is non-existent and action is lacking in the second half of the flick, overal average is as average does
