I would like this same treatment for Evil Dead 2.

Wasn't that movie, like, the best out of the three?

I think it might be the "Alternate Ending" that was referenced above. Good news it's coming out, was waiting on it but went ahead and bought the Region Locked BD from a forum member here that is supposedly loaded with extras and does have the director's cut in SD though as an extra.

god no part 2 is the worst! 1 is the best. the DC had over 15 minutes of extra footage, so this isn't it.

I like the original intended ending better myself, but overall I think the theatrical cut is better than the Director's Cut, the added scenes don't really contribute much, and certain alternate lines aren't as good as the theatrical:

Example: "You won't shoot me- you're the good guy!"
    Ash shoots him.

Theatrical response: "Good, bad. I'm the guy with the gun."

Director's Cut response: "I'm not that good."

Anchor Bay (Starz) did the director's cut on dvd. Since this is Universal, it'll probably be the same as the HDDVD. Hopefully they'll do like they did with King Kong and put both on the disc with seamless branching.

I doubt they'll do it. Have you seen the Director's Cut? You could easily tell which footage was added in because it was extremely blurry and low-grade looking. They would really have to go back and do major cleanup and restoration on that edition to make it presentable in high-def.

Only in the crap Ranchor Bay release. The Korean version looked as good as the rest of the film.

Great question! I'll be much more excited about the AOD BD once we have confirmation of a remaster as well. Until then I'm skeptical.
