Ernie has reviewed 'Foo Fighters: Live at Wembley Stadium.' He says this is a great film for fans and casual fans alike. This Blu-ray has strong video and audio and a performance so strong it cancels out the total lack of supplements. This one is highly recommended.

Not sure how an overall 3 star rating qualifies as a "Highly Recommended" release, but sure.

As far as concert Blu's go, this is the best looking that I've seen, besting both John Mayer and Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds.
Then again, I'm a bit biased... ![]() |

3 1/2 stars for audio? You've got to be kidding me. This concert has one of the best mixes of any concert I've heard on Blu-ray. Sir Terrence smoked you on reviewing this on Blu-ray.com. Much more accurate and thorough review over there.

I'll never understand how a Blu Ray of a concert can't get 5 star audio. Isn't that what it's supposed to be about? Personally, I wouldn't care if the video was lacking, but if I were to buy a rock concert to get the hi-def immersion, I would expect the audio to rival actually being there. Just my $.02.

I saw them in concert in Rochester NY. They were an awesome high energy show! If the price drops a bit I'll be all over it.

I love how Ernie mentions how much better the experience is when you don't read the setlist beforehand, and then proceeds to list all the songs.

This is a great concert, their performance of Everlong is EPIC in every sense of the word.

Completely disagree. I could not agree with the audio review more and infact I would have probably gone 3 out of 5. The low end is poorly represented on this disc and because the vocals and lead guitar are so prominent in the mix it becomes fatiguing to listen to after a while. When you dont get that low end mixed correctly with the bass drum and bass guitar in particular, the foundation is shot which this disc is a great example of. Put this on, then throw on NIN, The Police, John Mayer or Live from Abbey Road and listen to the night and day dif between the low end capture. This is far from a great mix.... As far as BR.com, they have to be THE MOST generous audio review site on the net. I find it refreshing to read a more genuine and honest review here at HDD myself (not that all HDD reviews are this way however, but this one is). Quote:

I agree with ToddS and the reviewer on the audio score. I read the B-R.com review and was stoked to get this title and check out this audio experience. I had to keep fiddling with my 5.1 mix / balance, but for the life of me, I couldn't get it to sound good. Don't get me wrong - I think Dave Grohl is an extremely talented musician, but the songs sound a heck of a lot better when you can hear more then just his vocals and his guitar... the mix was waaaay too "Grohl" heavy.
Also agree that the Rush b-r could have been better (but it's better than the foo): Neil's kit is well represented and each of the instruments can be distinguished well.. vocals get lost once in a while, and there was too much of Al's guitars in the surround speakers at times... A good example of B-R audio is the Police concert. Stewart Copelands kit sounds like it is in my living room. Everything is crystal clear, although I think Andy Summers guitar was a little weak on several songs. I guess I've yet to find the perfect concert blu-ray yet...but that wont stop me from buying... ![]() Last edited by Paradox Enigma : 02-02-2009 at 05:44 PM. |

I just want the "Skin and Bones" concert, I already have the DVD. That has to be one of the best concerts I've ever seen and it needs a highdef treatment.
Sony could do it too, first time I saw it was HDnet, so there's gotta be an HD master of it. Will probably pick this up at a decent price, but I'd give my left one for the "skin and Bones" concert.

The best live concert on BD to date would have to be AC/DC's Live in Spain disc.
That shit is mixed in TRUE HD 96/24 bit, and the stereo is alos mixed in 96/24. The bad part is that it's only available at Walmart and Walmart online. It's my favorite concert BD. FYI |
