Default 'The Notebook' - High-Def Digest Review

David has reviewed 'The Notebook.' He says this movie is sort of like romantic junk food. Stunning video and solid audio make this Blu-ray upgrade a must for fans. Supplements are also nice, but the extra stuff, the frilly notebooks and the like, they kind of hold this one back. Worth a look, but unless you're among the obsessed, you may want to wait for a disc only release.

Very good write up David. I'm not gonna lie, I did shed tears in this flick.
I can see how it comes off as somewhat unrealistic but the tale is just too beautiful to not smile at. Definitely adding it to my collection.

Oh and McAdams isss SMOKIN!

unrealistic? it's like forrest gump, only the chick doesn't have aids, and Gosling doesn't "go" as "retard" as Hanks did.

I think your trying to argue it is realistic ? Can't tell

But to me it's like a fantasy story. Like a daydream where prince charming sweeps you off your feet in the end. It didn't seem like a relatable film.

by comparing it to forrest gump, i'm saying it is VERY unrealistic. no one man accomplishes all those things. perhaps i need to sit you down to a viewing of Forrest Gump, mr newest member of the 10k post club.

Worth a rent. I watched this a few weeks ago on DVD with my wife. Not as bad as I thought it would be (it started a little rough for me but got better as the movie went on).

I started to watch this with a friend but couldn't deal with SD, I just had to wait for BD lol She thought I was crazy of course.

100% agreed , but I have to admit that why I like the movies. Kind of a fairy tale aspect I guess.....Not to mention they make for interesting stories IMO. It's also why it's easy to like comic movies I think. I mean sometimes movies being realistic could inhibit the story a bit, I mean there's no way anything in Iron Man or Dark Knight could actually happen, but hey we don't care.....ok sorry for the long rant lol

I'm hoping that this dreadful box goes away after Valentine's Day, and then I'll pick up the disc-only release. I'm not in dire straits without it, so I can wait.

I don't find it far-fetched either. What the film is about is the enduring power of true love. Love strong enough to endure obstacles and to last a lifetime. Yes, it's extremely romantic, maybe even naive sounding for today's society but no doubt those stories exist.
