I don't see anywhere in the original article that this has been confirmed. Digital Bits says they are waiting on official confirmation which has not happened yet.

there is no OFFICIAL press release that is true.
I said "confirmed" because it is Bill Hunt and if he says he is now able to report "accurate" info from industry sources, well that is "confirmed" as far I am concerned.

Hmmm, I thought the reason for the "remastering" was because it looked "too bad" in high def?Actually, I wonder if the original episodes will be an sd extra. Wouldn't surprise me.

It says it includes the theatrical versions of 1, 2, and 6, but do they include the(way better) directors cuts in each case? They better just put out the press release to end the confusion!

Not a Star Trek fan, so these are easily passable, but the new movie looks good because of its cast.

I wish they'd put out seasons 2 & 3 already.

Side note, I freaking hate the digital bits... When is that jerk of a digital media reporter going to realize that white on black burns your eyes out?

Anyway high on my list of things is that 6 disc movie pack for the time being... Pricing dependant.

Normally I will defend Bill Hunt, but in this case, I agree with you whole-heartedly. Even after going to The Digital Bits for several years, I still get thrown off after reading his site and then going to another site and seeing shimmering horizontal white and gray lines.

Anyway, I have the three season sets of the original show on S-DVD, but I'm still excited if Bill's right about both the original and remastered versions being included. (That is, if the extras from the original sets are also ported over, or at least what is there covers the same ground.)

This is my concern too!! Though i'm only planning on UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY, i've never seen the theatrical version, only the expanded version and it would be a shame to lose that. I do hope this is a case where 2 and 6 have a choice of versions.

I'm not liking the forced boxset of all six movies. Unless they discount the hell out of it, it's probably going to cost 120 bucks or more, easily, and that's probably going to be the amazon price. Paramount traditionally loves to milk Trek fans for cash, so I'm not expecting bargains. Furthermore, with a boxset of 6 films, I wouldn't be suprised if they skimped on the packaging and either put them all in slim cases, or just put the 6 discs inside of a cardboard box that folds out. Either way, it seems like a long shot to get 6 individual movies in individual cases, at an affordable price.

I much rather like the Nordic release discussed in the other thread, where you can buy some of the titles individually, but not all. Forces the hardcore fans to buy everything, while others can pick and choose their favorites from the individual release.

Definitely getting that TOS set, though, especially if that rumor of having both versions of episodes are true.

I like the Bits and I like Bill but I have to agree with you on one thing: The site needs an update. It looks wayyyy too 1997.... I wouldn't be surprised if it ACTUALLY hasn't changed since then.

Id buy a TNG or DS9 remastered set, but not TOS.

I am very excited about getting the first six films though. I wish the TNG films would get released, too.
