I remember saying to myself in the theater, this will look like crap on HD/BD . It was SO grainy.

Thats because a regular theater makes the best looking movies look like crap. I saw this movie @ IMAX on a digital projection. It looked and sounded AMAZING. I also saw Spidey 3 @ IMAX and the next day saw Next on regular theaters. The picture at a regular theater is nothing compared to digital HD goodness.

Well, if it's any comfort, there are Hi-Def trailers for this on Xbox Live and even at only 720p they look bloody superb!
![]() I'm confident these hi-def releases will do the film justice, and remember this is a highly stylised film so all the disc can do is be truthful to how it's supposed to look. If you like the style of the film then, unless it's a bad transfer, you should be happy with the HD presentation. |

Will order it in September because I leaving Sweden for Thailand for one month. Otherwise I would have pre-order it already (if it were available anywhere...).

I think you're a little confused about the IMAX process. It's a very large film print, and not digital projection as there is no digital projector that could faithfully recreate the size of IMAX without seeing scan lines/individual pixels as of now, afaik. And I also saw it on IMAX and could not stop thinking from opening to the end titles about how damn grainy it was.

This is exciting news!! I will more likely pick up the blu ray version. Since my PS3 is faster loading than my HD-A1!! God that's the only bad thing about the hd dvd player it is slow as hell!!
Mischa.

After seeing this movie at the IMAX with my son, I was relieved I bought the 60'' instead of the 46'' Sony TV. A small screen just does not do it justice. Nothing against anyone owning a 46'', it's just that if you really want to get the full effect of what 1080p has to offer, it's best to go 55'' or more. Especially with this movie. I might buy the hd dvd version for the u-control.
