Punisher War Zone- March 17

This has yet to be officially confirmed, but I'm seeing retailers now listing Punisher War Zone for a March 17 release date.

An interesting development, which may be inaccurate, we'll see: one of the retailers, Columbia House, is listing it as R rated.

Also listed is the inclusion of a digital copy.

I hated this movie. I thought it was a disgrace to the punisher franchise. Sorry to disagree with you all, but if you are a fan of the Punisher Max series this movie is just bad.

I can tell you why I think this, but it will contain a lot of spoilers for the comics and the movie.

I agree with you on this. The Dolph one was meh, but the Thomas Jane one was great. Besides the villain in War Zone this punisher was just plain awful!!!

and nate, what is interesting about the R rating??? I thought naturally it would be rated R?? was it a pg-13 in theaters or something?

interesting as to whether there will be an unrated cut now or later, as punisher had. the thing is, there was a controversy some time back, about the ratings of the film, just like w/ max payne.

I think Ray Stevenson has the potential to be an awesome Punisher, but this movie didn't give him anything to do. I also hated the villians and their over-the-top "New Yawk" accents. Will admit that the Jigsaw facial makeup was cool as hell though.

This one, like all the Punisher movies so far, are a disgrace to the comics.
I really hate to be the one that shows up on all these threads trashing a movie. But I grew up on the Punisher, when all the other kids were reading Spiderman and Fantastic Four, which I also like don't get me wrong...
It was Punisher and Batman that held my heart with darkness, grit, realism, and took the cartoonish out of comic violence.
The Punisher has all the makings of a great story about justice, morals, loss, revenge, burden, society, honor, family, grief and isolation.
Instead we get a guy spinning around like a ballerina on a diamond chandlier. Although I'll give it being the best out of the 3 movies, that is not saying much at all, since I wouldn't piss on the other 2 to put out a fire.
All the filmakers for these movies have done a great injustice and should be punished.

I didn't like the movie either, but to be fair, the style of the movie does in fact resemble Garth Ennis' Marvel Knights series. If you go back and read those issues, it has the same tone: cartoonish, over the top killing and corny, comically bad villains. Really more of a self-parody of the character. If you go into the movie realizing this, you might enjoy it.
I would have rather seen a sequel to the 2004 movie with Tom Jane (done better and more like comics of course) but that's just me.
