Default 'The Road Warrior' - High-Def Digest Review

Just posted Peter's review of 'The Road Warrior' on Blu-ray. As fans of the film already know, Peter says this second installment in the Mad Max series holds up exceptionally well 25 years after its initial release. Meanwhile, this first-ever high-def release of the film is nothing short of a godsend -- the transfer has finally been remastered, and we even get an HD exclusive audio commentary. Sure, the supplements are otherwise fairly thin and the audio package is still somewhat lacking, but 'The Road Warrior' in high-def remains a huge step up for this much-beloved cult classic.

Default The Road Warrior

Finally this has come to Blu-ray (and HD DVD). I am happy that i will finally be able to hear this film (i think/hope). The DVD had my finger on the volume control the whole film with the subtitles on.
Well really this works out to "I can't wait to pick it up".

Mel Gibson's only "bad" film is Signs. Yes i liked "What Women Want", sue me.

I liked What Women Want also. But I did also like Signs. What didn't you like about it?

As to the topic at hand. Yeah I liked this movie and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome also. I hope to see that soon as well.

As much as I hate Mel, I love this movie and will be getting it.

I just picked this one up and watched it.

Wow! This is an excellent transfer for sure.

I haven't seen this movie in years, so it was great to revisit it. It is a lot of fun to watch and still holds up well for a 25 year old movie.

Hopefully the first film titled Mad Max, and the third titled Beyond Thinderdome will make their way to Blu-Ray soon.

Yep it is an amazing Blu-ray especially at the price you could pick it up in the last 6 months.

I really enjoyed this one myself, especially for a film of this vintage. The last time that I saw the movie was years and years ago, so it was nice little treat seeing this transformed in high-definition.

I finally got around to watching the movie last night, and let me tell you, I was blown away at the detail. It seems as if this film was made just yesterday, that is how good the transfer looks.

Yep I wish all catalog Blu-rays of similar age looked this good. A great movie as well

Ive had an interesting viewing experience thus for with blu ray. I rented The Dark Knight and was blown away at the video quality. Since that time Ive bought all cheap blu ray releases, lol ! The Road Warrior, The Perfect Storm, and The Fugitive.

The Road Warrior as crazy as it sounds, has better video quality than the other two. You simply couldnt complain about this one. Its certainly not in the same league as The Dark Knight but I didnt stop my PS3 and check the video settings like I did with The Fugitive to see if something was wrong, lol !!

Great movie though, quality release !

The Road Warrior is one of my favorite demo blu-rays. It's amazing how good it looks.... particularly when compared to the piece of shit DVD release.

Fugitive is a terrible blu-ray. Its MPEG-2 encoded video on a BD-25, released in the infancy of the format. Not to mention that the disc is sourced from a 1080i master.

RW looks good but there are some color timing issues with it. It was nice to see the European release though.
