Default 'The Wackness' - High-Def Digest Review

Please welcome our newest contributor, Ernie Estrella, as he reviews his first title for High-Def Digest. Ernie says 'The Wackness' is an enjoyable 90's period piece (as strange as that is to say!). This Blu-ray has a faithful video transfer, a strong audio mix, and some fun supplements. Recommended.

The Wackness was one of my top films of 2008. I'll read the review later because I am way too tired to make sense of anything I read.

welcome though to the new reviewer

Excellent review and nice to see someone appreciate the film. Just finished watching it for a second time, I thought the PQ was as good as it's going to get, The colors to begin with are dull (guess to represent the 90's) but comes off very well on the BD. I had a good time with the features as well, especially Lukes Dope Show, I was laughing pretty hard.

Nice review. I'll be picking this up. BUT...

In 1994 my original Nintendo was at the bottom of a box in my parent's garage. I had moved on to Sega Genesis and was eagerly awaiting the coming of Playstation by that time.

Who the hell was still playing the original Nintendo in 1994?

I'd like to run to a store and pick this up but for some reason bestbuy.ca and futureshop.ca don't have it listed.

I still had my NES out along with the Genesis and the SNES, since NES emulation wasn't around back then.

Quote / Ernie Estrella:

“…and newly appointed Mayor Rudy Giuliani was making a name for himself in New York by cleaning the streets of graffiti, boom boxes, and seemingly everything else that was part of the booming hip-hop culture.”

How dare he slash crime and reduce the murder rate! Everyone wants graffiti all over their homes and businesses! What a square!

LOL welcome aboard, Ernie, I look forward to 99% of the content of your reviews. Since I see you have history with all things comic books I am anticipating your take on comic book inspired films, especially.

Listen to the commentary, they address this. Not only were there people who still played the original Nintendo, but Shapiro's character would in fact still play the Nintendo. He was still making mix tapes even though CDs started coming out then. I had a lot of friends who were content with the original Nintendo and were proud of it.
