Default 'Event Horizon' - High-Def Digest Review

Ken's review of 'Event Horizon' has been posted. He enjoys the film, and even says it's on of Paul W. S. Anderson's better flicks. This Blu-ray has a problematic but attractive video transfer, somewhat underwhelming audio, and plenty of supplements. Fans will like this one, others should give it a rent.

Wow, they actually liked a good movie. This movie is by far one of the best sci-fi horror movies ever made.

I can't believe Ken doesn't like soldier, that's a classic... Anyway, so is Event Horizon and I'm to have to pick it up on blu! Soldier as well once it comes out

Nice. I'll pick this up blu-ray when it's < $20. Definitely one of the better sci-fi horror movies.

Ken, Paul WS Anderson didn't direct Dead or Alive, Cory Yuen did. He did produce, though.

Oh, and someone said Soldier rocked. Soldier was godawful, I hear there's a director's cut out there. I remember Anderson saying that Soldier and Bladerunner take place at the same time, it's the same universe--considering the same writer wrote both films.

Man I remember that stupid vertical stretch from the SE DVD. I can't believe it hasn't been fixed! I found it EXTREMELY distracting. If I wasn't able to minimize it using both player and TV deformations it would have been completely unwatchable. One 2 second shot on Pirates of the Caribbean initiates a country-wide recall but nobody even mentioned this on the DVD. I hope people raise a stink over this BD because of it. Unacceptible Paramount!

I've been anticipating this release for 2 months now, I can't wait for the 5th. Several years back I couldn't sleep one night and was flipping the channels and caught this on HBO and it disturbed me so much I literally could not sleep for the rest of the night (Ghostship also had that effect on me, that opening sequence was totally unexpected. Where's my Ghostship Blu-Ray???) I thought I was the only one who made the Hellraiser comparison but I guess not, now after the review I'm totally ready. Too bad ordering through Amazon I have to wait till Friday or Saturday to see it. Thanx for the review.

Holy crap, I can't possibly buy this film if it is stretched. Unbelievable in this day and age. I wonder if the master is this way and we may never get a proper copy? Or was it shown in theaters this way?

I have the first release DVD version of Event Horizon, so I think it is time for an upgrade.

Like I said I'll have to give this another rent, I remember this being pretty shitty. Granted it has been almost a decade since I've seen it last....

Good to know. I didn't buy the DVD though... I owned it on VHS. I'm just not in a hurry to get this one.

BUT, if Best Buy isn't charging a ridiculous price like they do for most blu-rays, I'd be willing to pick it up there for 19.99 since I have a $10 gift card, plus a $5 off rewards coupon.

Edit: Just checked BB.com. They're charging 24.99... typical.

long been awaiting this movie which I liked so much that I watched it twice in theaters in the same afternoon. excellent & unique horror concept, and well-done. not to mention that space movies in blu ray are eye candy, and ear candy too. hopefully we get all the aliens movies in blu ray soon instead of blu ray releases like the holiday with jack black.
on another note I've enjoyed paul w.s anderson's movies and thought that mortal kombat was an awesome visual & stylish flick, not to mention well done video game entry. mk2 however was a stinker but it wasn't directed by him. I also liked resident evil 1 and thought it was another good entry from him. in fact, paul w.s. anderson is one of my top 5 'style over substance' directors along with michael bay. but recently he's been failing with bombs like death race. next year's space movie pandorum however looks similar to event horizon, and he's involved..so let's see
