Default 'Traitor' - High-Def Digest Review

Ken has reviewed 'Traitor.' He says the film fails to develop into the complex psychological thriller it desperately wants to be. This Blu-ray sports excellent video, proficient TrueHD audio, and some succinct but dry supplements. Worth a look.

now that's too bad. I actually liked Traitor. I will admit openly, The War Within is better, but Traitor really flew by, unlike most espionage titles that drag on and on and on.

even still, 3.5 is a 7 on a 10 point scale, so that's actually GOOD.

i agree with the review, that the actions of characters are dictated and facilitated to fit the plot. Great review.

I had to cancel this blind buy in order to focus on last week's Criterion Collection releases.

I will put this on my "to buy list" for the future.

i'm sorry ken but i gotta disagree with you on this review i pretty much hated this movie and i was looking forward to it for seeing cheadle's next performance along with guy pearce and jeff daniels. the movie stuffs itself with so much plot that it cant take it and the movie doesnt connect and is just awful storytelling. then when you want it to be over there's another hour of (like you said) espionage cliches that just make me dislike it more. don cheadle was as good as usual but this was just not a good movie in my opinion, i was hoping to see the film itself value lower than 3 but oh well.

I thought this movie was pretty good, not great but really entertaining to say the least. I would probably pick it up sometime in the future.

I thought the movie was good, I just don't like how the commercials make it look like another Bourne movie, when it's not.

Good film. Good Transfer. Here in Canada, it's released by Alliance. Basically the same transfer, but there's no digital copy disc. If you're French though, there is both English AND French Dolby TrueHD tracks.

another good review Ken, this one surprised me when I rented it. I actually really liked it, when I thought it would be heavy handed in its message (a turnoff for me) but turned out to be great flick. 4/5 for me. wil pick up the when it drops in price.

Good movie. A heck of a lot better than I expected.

I rented the DVD on Saturday from Redbox (fullscreen no less), was totally impressed with the flick then went out to Wally World on Sunday and bought the BD.

The flick is cliched and somewhat predictable but just when you think you've got things figured out the film throws you a few curveballs that elevate it above the usual action film standards, although it really isn't an action film but the trailer gives the impression that it's some sort of Bourne style action film.

Cheadle and Taghmaoui are the anchors here. Nachmanoff's script is tight and his direction is efficient and I have to give a special shout-out to composer Mark Kilian who put together a very solid and at times bombastic score. Solid entertainment all around.

Default I really liked this

I was really pleasantly surprised by this movie, from what others had told me i was expecting a slow, predictable, 'look at how horrible America is' morality play. What i found was a smart exciting spy thriller that came from a totally different perspective then most cookie cutter spy films Hollywood pumps out. I would give is 4 out of 5 so i can't say i disagree with the review all that much. I had really low expectations and was rewarded with a fulfilling movie experience. Ever since Boogie Nights i have always enjoyed Cheedle.

Ps. Speaking of lower expectations, does anyone remember the In living color segment about a dating service called 'lowered expectations", hilarious. Random, I know, it just popped into my head.
