Default 'Mission: Impossible' - High-Def Digest Review

Just posted Peter's review of the upcoming stand-alone release of 'Mission: Impossible' on Blu-ray. While it offers nothing new over the version of the film previously included in the 'M:I' box set Paramount released to Blu-ray late last year, the video, audio and supplements are still pretty solid.

Thumbs down if it's already been reviewed why review it again?

you guys are killing a dead horse here on this one... not that I like Peter's reviews anyway but this is pretty dumb. I guess you plan to re-Review or have Peter re-Review the new Non-Combo format HD DVD releases of "Army of Darknes" and "Unleashed" which you have already reviewed too?

You guys sometimes get my attention and I like your reviews (when Ken is behind the pen so to speak) but wow... lame

That's all I could think. M:I is (IMHO) the best of the trilogy. M:I 3 was good but not as good as the original.

This is just my opinion, but the MI series has gotten WORSE with each
sequel. I guess this review serves as a reminder of how subjective these
things can be. I generally skip right to the video/audio ratings of these
things anyway, as I can form my own opinion of the movie content. In fact,
I'd rather not see "The Movie" part in the reviews at all. All I want to know
is how good the presentation/transfer of that particular Blu-Ray is. Info on
supplements is nice, but of secondary importance to me. I'm sure others will
have different priorities, but that's what matters to me. <shrug>

@Nicodimus: I'm sure there are others on the site who do primarily read reviews for audio/video quality, but there also many who may have never seen the film being reviewed. Realistically, the value of the disc is highly dependent upon the quality of the film itself. No matter how good the audio and video transfers are for Carebears in Wonderland, I'm pretty sure that it would not necessarily get that great of an overall rating here at the site (nor do I think it deserves one).

Quite right, although my point is that the quality of the film itself is extremely subjective, so I find that part of the review less valuable than the other parts.

Ive personally liked all the MI series but last time I checked, I thought MI1 was for sure, the top favorite, followed by 3 and then 2.... but a 2 1/2 star seems weak for a great flick.

If i remember correctly, when the movie came out, it was one of those "you have to watch twice to really understand"

Default not to be nitpicky

the review reffered to Emilio Estevez as "cashing in a paycheck because he wants to direct" or something to that effect. it should be noted that Estevez was UNCREDITED in the film. not that he didn't get paid for it... not that i know, but seriously, an actor usually goes "uncredited" if its a project they did for fun, or as a favor. Considering Estevez's part, very brief, i'm sure he only filmed for maybe an hour at the most, barely worth much if you ask me, even by actor's standards, so yeah, i know i'm being nitpicky, but come on, Estevez isn't even CLOSE to being a supporting actor, so why even mention him at all in the review....

just because an actor that's somewhat famous appears as an "extra" in a flick, doesn't really warrant them attention, much less an example in a review.

by the way, i didn't like MI:1 or 3... i thought John Woo's 2 was the best.
