Default 'Dirty Dancing' - High-Def Digest Review

We've justed posted Peter's review of 'Dirty Dancing (The 20th Anniversary Edition)' on Blu-ray. He says Lionsgate has served up perhaps the best possible Blu-ray release for this guilty pleasure, with a nice transfer and soundtrack, plus a ridiculous amount of supplements.

Better than I expected.

Maybe I'll buy this movie for my mom, she loves the movie!

More Blu-ray bullets to use on my wife.... yeah cause I don't like this movie or anything. In fact I've never seen it before.

Who am I kidding "Nobody puts Baby in a corner" FTW!

I got this one this week and I thought it was a lot better than I expected for older movie.

One thing I am curious, it appears to have BD+J support at begining or something. it comes up with icon and then starts.

Also on side note, this Blu-ray past my double # of Blu-rays that I have starting this site.

I bought the 20th anniversary CD and DVD for my mother for mother's day. And now I'll probably buy the BD for myself. It's one of those movies that if it's on TV, you just have to watch it ya know?

This review lets this movie off way too easy.

I found the transferr bizzare, heavily black crushed and covered in crawling artifacts which I beleive is due to a heavy handed film grain reduction attempt.

If you look at the deleted scenes. They are grainier but have none of the faults the main feature exhibits. They obviously didnt process the extras to the same xtent as the movie. Very poor in my opinion.

Bitterly dissapointed is an understatment with this disk. Lionsgate should be ashamed by this attempt at bluray.

I rate the sound track 4 stars and the video at 2 or less stars.

This review needs to be re-examined.

I would agree. Finally got around to watching this and while I love the movie and the soundtrack, the Blu-ray video left something to be desired. Even my wife commented how poor it looked, and she doesn't usually say anything (she even liked Daylight!).

I think it looks better than the DVD, but the DVD looks horrible to begin with. So it's an improvement imo, just not much, and it still doesn't look good.

High-Def can only do so much.

I'm satisfied with their effort on this.
