Default 'Burn After Reading' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter has reviewed 'Burn After Reading.' He says this is a pretty light Coen Brothers outing. This Blu-ray isn't anything spectacular. Video and audio are fine, supplements are skimpy. Worth a rental.

I didn't get the buzz about this movie. I wasn't a huge fan of NCFOM either, so it wasn't a surprise that I didn't care for this either. PQ/AQ marks are on the mark though.

Linda wasn't a CIA analyst, she was just an employee at the gym. The movie was flat-out boring imo. I agree about the camerawork though, some of it was brilliant.

I liked this movie thought it was pretty funny. Maybe I'm simple minded.

Absolutely loved it, a right little gem in todays world of Superbad, Stepbrothers and Pineapple Express

Pretty worthless film, shame because I was looking forward to it. Coming from a former Coen Bros fanboy, I must say that these high marks MUST be from Coen Bros fanboys...

@ aygie - I thought Superbad was pretty terrific, I wouldn't put that in the same category as Step Brothers...

Y'know, I'm kind of left wondering if the reviewer actually saw the film...the description of the Frances McDormand character as working for the CIA suggests otherwise. Good to know about A/V quality and supplements, but that sort of error puts the whole review in question.

Like all Coen brothers movies, Burn After Reading not only stands up to repeated viewings, it improves with them. I enjoy George Clooney in Coen comedies (O Brother, Intolerable Cruelty) and his performance here is hilarious.

While I agree that BAR isn't among the Coens' best films, it's still far better than what everyone else produces. A definite addition to the permanent collection for me.

Very funny movie and just what you'd expect from the Coen Bros. Shame the PQ/AQ isn't up to snuff though. Oh well, I'll get it anyway.

One of my favorite movies of the year.

This review troubled me though.
It may be an honest mistake, but he clearly writes "fellow CIA analyst Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand) and her oddball sidekick Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt)." Maybe he wasn't really paying attention to the film, which discredits the review all together, or I'm just making a big deal about nothing.

Also, the House Bunny gets three stars and Burn After Reading gets two-and-a-half??? IMO, nobody should miss this movie based on this review.

yeah something is not right if House Bunny gets a better rating than Burn, even Rottentomatoes gave Burn after reading a 79% with House Bunny getting a 39%

It will quickly be edited with no mention. Please see Heores Season Two, Journey to the Center of the Earth...
