Default 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor'' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' has been posted. He says this is the weakest of the series, but it does have moments of
big dumb entertainment value. This Blu-ray has excellent video, audio,
and supplements. Good disc, bad flick.

Curse of the Dragon Emperor? Is that a direct-to-dvd release?

Ugh...I really wanted to like this film. I really enjoyed The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, but this one used so many horrible jokes it killed me to watch it. Jet Li pretty much phoned in his performance..bleh.

Still, it would be nice to see it in 1080p.

i honestly do not know what Roger Ebert was inhaling when he quotes "Best One in the Mummy series". Even though Mummy Returns sucked, it elevates as a masterpiece when next to this 'bad everything' piece of junk film. Stephen Sommers can really pull off some great popcorn fun extravaganza.

Is this more or less on par with Journey to the Center of the Earth with Brendan Fraser? I liked that movie even though I know it's goofy and bad. Will I still like this Mummy movie? Lately i'm giving more mediocre movies a chance since I have a good set of speakers and a projector, so even if the movie sucks, I can have fun with the PQ/AQ at least, and point fingers at the screen in derisive laughter.

I really wish they would just stop with the bonus disc being a DVD.

I don't want Digital Copy.

I don't want SD video for newly produced extras.

I WANT BLU-RAY. I thought that's what I was paying for... you know, the Blue boxed discs? Especially when they are pricey like this one.

I refused to buy Hellboy 2 because of this shit, and I will refuse to buy this one until it's cheap as dirt now.

All I remember seeing The Mummy Return but that's about it. I love The Mummy an own it on HD DVD. Jet Li (and Jackie Chan), it's the other reason why I didn't touch this I'm sick of them.

I may rent this if Family/Friends want to see it...in High-Def.

Surprised the lack of continuity wasn't mentioned in the review. The son had a British accent in the second film, are we to actually believe he grew out of it? REALLY?

For probably the first time... ever, I agree with Peter's review of a movie.

I wanted to like Dragon Emperor after having loved Mummy/Returns, but I just couldn't do it. The entire movie seems like it was written in a week and then drowned in CGI post production for a year.

It was a hell of a lot better than "Crystal Skull".

I missed Weisz, and the Yeti dudes were kind of weird, but I had a really good time with this.
