Default 'Horton Hears A Who' - High-Def Digest Review

Ken's review of 'Horton Hears A Who' is up. He says this is a great film for the family. This Blu-ray boasts 5 star video, strong audio, and some good supplements. Recommended.

i saw something in the review, that i think is an inside joke, too classic.

nice review, too. i'm still super tentative about this title, but may go for it eventually.

Rented it last weekend.

It does look and sound great, but the story lacks enough material to support a full length feature.

I'm glad it was only a rental.

Watched it last night. I thought it was cute but it wasnt it just doesnt have that pitch perfect movie for kids and adults alike. The PQ wasnt the sharpest animated flick ive seen but the colors were bright and vivid. The audio didnt seem to make my speakers boom(?) which is odd figuring how small the who's are I imagine the sounds from the outside are loud. :P

Anyway,,

Movie: 3/5
PQ: 4.5/5
AQ: 3.5/5

I watched the movie over the weekend, I thought that the picture was exceptional!! My son loved the movie, it has a good story. I only rented it as I do most blu rays but I could sit through it again.

i thought it looked great, rented it from netflix but my wife and i got bored with it, probably has something to do with stretching out a 30 page children's book to an hour and a half worth of movie

I bought this one after being barraged by ads touting it's release. My family (all of at young adult or above level) enjoyed it. I put up a short review at Amazon that seems to share a lot of the same thoughts as Ken's review here.

The one thing I said there that seems to echo comments above: this is probably only a buy for Seuss fans, and for most others it would be better to rent. It's worth the rent for sure, but I'm sure that there's a ton of replay value there, at least not unless you've got young ones that you can be assured will want to see it repeatedly.

ps3

I rented the SD DVD of this movie to test it out and I liked it it was not the best animated movie out there when it comes to the story(it was a bit stretched out) but it is animated nicely and it looks great even on SD DVD. The voice cast was great as well Jim Carey really lends himdelf to this type of movie. I just bought the blu-ray the other day and I havent watched it fully but scanned through it and what i saw look great and I agree with the 5 star video.

movie: 4/5
video: 5/5
audio: 4.5/5
replay value: depends on the person or family for me it will have plenty.

Watched it the other night and it was a good film. Tech, the movie cant hold up to KFP (as well as a few others) in either video or audio, but PQ/SQ was still very good overall.

Default Sorry but urrghh at kids...

...im sorry, but everytime I read a review on this site and someones "little kid" is mentioned and stuff about "bouncing around in the cinema", it makes me cringe.

I love going to see animated films as much as the kids do, but I really wish they would create an entire cinema room for kids and their parents, or generally anyone under the age of 16 so we dont have to see or hear it.

I went to see Hellboy 2 (yes Hellboy, not so much a kiddy flick) when it was out and the ENTIRE cinema was filled with kids between 10-16 and every single BLEEPING one of them was making noise, being disruptive and obnoxious.

Im all for kids enjoying films and being bouncy, but please let them do it in a seperate special screening away from the rest of us who dont have kids!

I want to go see these films too (even at 26) about animated elephants and talking machines, without having to endure the bouncyness!

And now I endure a backlash from all the parents....

This is 4.5 a the very most. Wall-e and this movie are not even close, for those who haven't watched it yet and are wondering it's PQ is more the likes of Ice Age, Shrek the third etc...

As for the movie it was cute, already saw it like 6 times because of the kid, and the moral of the story is too little too late in the movie. Not a must own if you ask me and I own every animated Blu that has been released.

Sorry if I'm being picky but Wall-E, Cars, Rat, Kung Foo Panda and a few other's a clearly above this movie PQ wise, so I think you simply cant give the same star rating.

P.S. Then again I think Spider-man 3 had a lot better PQ than a lot of sites seamed to have given it ( This one included ) , so who am I to judge.

The Dark Knight was way better than Horton Hears A Who...oh wait, wrong thread.

I enjoyed Horton a lot. Kid films are a toss up with me. Some I can tolerate, some I enjoy, and some I will only let me daughter watch in the other room. For instance, Kung Fu Panda annoyed me. But Wall-E, Tinkerbell, and TMNT, and now Horton Hears A Who have earned their viewings on our main TV.

I thought Horton Hears A Who was a VERY cute movie when I saw it in the theater, and I'm looking forward to the PQ at home (already bought it but saving it for Christmas).

But The Dark Knight was still the better movie.
