Thumbs up 'Donnie Brasco' - High-Def Digest review

Kenneth's review of 'Donnie Brasco' is up. He's a fan of the film and was delighted to see Sony grant this Blu-ray release with both a superior transfer and a solid audio mix. Mind you, the supplements are a little disappointing, and the extra twenty minutes included in this extented edition aren't terribly enlightening, but still this one more than delivers on the bottom line, and earns a hearty recommend from Kenneth.

Sweet, I've always like Brasco. Is it just me or is Sony kicking major ass in the transfer department.

I enjoy the movie, and if it's that good of a transfer I might have to bite.

Thumbs up Excellent review

good job Kenneth on this review, totally agree with you on the star ratings and your review itself... Currently working on a review for it myself for my site, I ranked it about the same as you star-wise. There were some issues though with hairs and other stuff in the film transfer that were a tad bit distracting at times.

It's a great transfer. I hadn't seen it on DVD in a while and seeing it on Blu-ray Disc made up for not getting to see it in theaters when it was out. Great flick, Great transfer for the audio/video but the 480p bonus materials really fall short. If you're not a big bonus materials person and/or own it already on DVD then you won't care about that part... just be happy the studio (Sony) decided to put this movie out in High-Def

Lately yes they have been doing amazing transfers... Casino Royale, Layer Cake, Rocky Balboa, Donnie Brasco... the list goes on for the last few months of great A/V transfers to Blu-ray Disc

Hairs and other stuff? Please give reference times and chapters.

I just find it interesting that Planet Earth could get 5 stars here with all it's imperfections and the latest string of Blu-ray exclusive titles get 4.5 stars with less things wrong if anything at all. I would like to understand the reasoning behind that.

Great flick - Depp and Pacino were both brilliant.
