Default 'Young Frankenstein' - High-Def Digest Review

Ken has reviewed 'Young Frankenstein.' He says this is one of Mel Brooks' best. This Blu-ray boasts excellent video, faithful audio, and plenty of supplements. Recommended.

Sorry guys, we're having technical difficulties setting up the review. I'll try again in a little while.

Without even reading the review, I can say I probably agree with Ken. I watched it the other day and it was great and looked pretty good to. It was my first time to watch it.

On the error, I just got one, didn't really pay it no mind, but it happened when I tried accessing the front page, I refreshed and all was fine

EDIT:
Just got it agn

Well, no suspense on this morning's title. Should be up in the next minute.

Well, I have to agree with Ken on this one. The movie is fantastic, it looks spectacular (I love glorious black & white in hi-def) and the supplemental package from Fox is ridiculously awesome considering this is a catalog title that they released with practically no fanfare whatsoever.

Fans of the film, Mel Brooks, satires, and classic horror should all flock to this release. After mulling over this package, the one for Planet of the Apes (1968), and the one for Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), it appears Fox definitely has their shit together with their classic catalog releases -- as they are 3 of my favorite Blu-rays at this point. Props to Fox! Now give me The Sound of Music, Fantastic Voyage, and All About in Eve in glorious Blu!

Got this first day of the release as a blind buy 'cause it's up there in my list, but it just seems that Ken got to see the movie through the same eyes as me because I couldn't agree more with a review that this one. Great job

^ It was a blind buy for me also. Not first day but as soon as I read a couple reviews that said this looked and sounded very good and was loaded with supplements. Always wanted to see it and this release gave me the perfect excuse.

Bought this one when it was released 2 months ago. I guess better late than never with the review.

Movie: 4.5 outta 5
Video: 3.5 outta 5
Audio: 3.5 outta 5
Extras: 4 outta 5

A pretty decent release.

Unhappy

I got Young Frankenstein, one of my absolute all-time favorites for Christmas yesterday and I have to ask, did we see the same Blu-Ray?

I was really disappointed with it--the entire film was very grainy with speckles at all times when I'd expect it to be razor-clear and smooth which B&W can be. It looked like they took a VHS tape for the master and upscaled from that. Yes, I could see the details like the makeup as described in the review, but I'm very disappointed with the picture quality of the film itself. The popup trivia was clear, which tells me I don't have a bad disc. Granted, this is on a big 65" 1080p TV, but I really expected much, much better.

I never feel bad about buying classic comedies cause they're always the first movies I go back to over and over.
