Default 'Lost: The Complete Fourth Season' - High-Def Digest Review

Josh has reviewed 'Lost: The Complete Fourth Season.' He says this set is overpriced for having only 13 episodes, but it's a good season. Other than that, this Blu-ray set has great audio, video, and supplements. Highly recommneded, but shoparound for the best price.

the PQ on this season was better than season 3. first time i've heard vice versa. the 3D pop throughout almost every episode was as good as the live action films I've seen on blu lately. the detail was even better than the dark knight and that recieved 4 1/2 stars. no excuse for this not getting the 5 stars it deserves.

I agree with you. 5 Star PQ/AQ for a TV on BD release.

Mine just shipped from amazon. Looking forward to this.

One thing I felt Josh should have mentioned (though this may just be my opinion) is that season four just felt so much tighter and more focused than any of the previous seasons...likely because of the WGA strike and the need to cram more of the story into less episodes. There were certainly no wasted episodes in season 4...there were barely any wasted moments.

The pace was incredible. Which I suppose is why Cuse/Lindelof and company are planning shorter runs for the final two seasons of the show, starting in early '09.

I don't mind profanity when used for a purpose. But the way it's used in the script notes is just obnoxious.

Technically, the notes don't really have swearing in them. The specific curse words have been jokingly redacted out with black marker. The notes are like, "Holy BLEEP! Oh yeah, folks, this is where the BLEEP really hits the fan!" It's kind of funny the first time it happens, but every single note is like that, and none of them have anything actually interesting to say. For an exclusive bonus feature, it's pretty lame.

What size screen are you watching on? If you have a small screen, you probably won't notice the edge enhancement and it will look superficially like the picture is sharper. But it doesn't really have any more picture detail. It's just edge enhanced.

Still, the artifact is pretty minor. This is a good-looking Blu-ray. But Season 3 was better.

The MSRP of Season 3 was $96.99, just like this one. It sounds like the retailer you bought it from marked up the sticker price so that they could pretend to give you a great discount.

Also.. does Season 4 come in a small box like Season 3 did?
This question is explicitly answered in the review.

The Season 3 booklet that thoroughly listed its disc contents has also been exchanged for a jokey Oceanic Airlines passenger safety pamphlet with instructions for what to do in the event that the plane is surrounded by black smoke, how to filter out scary whispering noises, and so forth. The back page has a basic episode list, but no plot summaries or detail about the bonus features.
I got my copy of the show this morning, watched the first episode. I got no such pamphlet in mine... I got an ABC Blu-ray promo and the usual BD-Live insert and nothing else. Can anyone else confirm that a Safety Pamphlet is included? Mine came from Amazon FYI.

OK, I lost interest in Lost after season 1. I became bored with the flashback structure and how the writers seemed unwilling (or incapable) of explaining some of the mysteries of the first season (the black mist, the large monster/dinosaur, the pilot being ripped from the plane). This review and Blu-ray.com both give the content very high marks.

My question is this: Should I keep going with the series? I don't want to get to season 4 to have answers. Are any of the issues I mentioned above cleared up in seasons 2,3, or 4?

Lost fans: convince me to give the show another chance.

The MSRP got lowered, many websites do not reflect the new $69.99 price. The review is wrong here, too. Bad reviewer, bad, bad. With the new MSRP, the cost is not that far off consider the drop in running time for the season.
