Just read your post about the Monsters Inc trailer on the Mary Poppins DVD... the Black Cauldron trailer must be there too, right? And nothing new about Snow White?!? I plan to pick the Mary DVD, along with the new Oliver & Company... is the dvd good? And sorry for keeping it off-topic here...

I haven't checked out Oliver & Company. The transfer on Mary Poppins looks pretty bad, but it has quite a few extras, very entertaining to see them all now. The Black Cauldron trailer is on The Secret Of The Magic Gourd. I haven't checked if it's on Mary Poppins but I'll let ya know.

Hey Blu-News...I don't know if you've seen my posts about Mary Poppins possibly coming out on Blu-Ray later this year/early next year...
Mary Poppins: Coming to Blu-Ray in '09 after all?
It looks like Disney may be re-piecing the film from it's original shooting elements/negative, and doing another audio restoration that doesn't add new sound effects.
Now that Black Cauldron, Oliver, Mary Poppins, and Lilo & Stitch are all being released this year on DVD, I think I've figured out what Disney is doing. They are making last ditch re-releases (or "re-promotes" as they are often called) of titles on DVD before they make the jump to Blu-Ray. That way if someone is a diehard Disney fan, they can sell them Mary Poppins, Lilo, Oliver or Cauldron one more time before Disney begins to trickle out the Blu-Ray versions in the next year or so. It actually makes sense from a business standpoint to re-release the same film twice, once while DVD is still king, and once again once Blu-Ray is gaining popularity. I'm usually pretty good at predicting Disney...as I've known Black Cauldron would see a re-release soon. It was restored in 2002/2003 by Lowry Digital to a 2k Master from it's original negative. This restoration has previously only been available in anamorphic DVD NTSC format in Korea and France in PAL format. Finally the USA will at least have the restored transfer, and anamorphic on DVD to boot. -

I hate waiting, and it looks bad at the moment for films to be DVD only. I mean I'm sure it will be worth it when they finally arrive, but seeing all these releases pass by with no real sign of a Blu-ray release makes me sad. That said though, I'm sure many of them will get the Blu treatment sooner rather than later as standalone Blu-ray releases. I mean Monsters Inc is coming to Blu-ray this Spring, and no DVD, so it's a good thing I guess?

I want Marry Poppins in Blu Ray..Period!
Look......The longer they wait the less they will get for the disc. The longer they wait the less of DISNEY Blu Ray I will buy. the longer they wait the more people will become bitter for not being able to have the most sought after BD Disney movie. I have Cars, Ice Ages, Tinkerbell, Meet the Robinson's, and many others. Now if they want to play around with another DVD release of MP then fine but who is buying this when there is a clear winner in the next format. Get on it and make it happen Disney or I will not go to your park or buy any more of your BD,s till I get the number one I am after. What else can I do...the only power I have is my purchasing dollar. And I can tell you I live in Michigan and went to Florida like I do each year...I did not go to Disney and I have three girls under the age of 6. The year before I spent tons of cash on princess boutique so my girls could dress up like the princesses. This will all stop unless Disney gets on board with the Mary Poppins release. Oh and I will not stop taking my girls to fun and exciting places....just won't be Disney. The power we have is where we spend our money. Now this may be a little harsh on my part but I am telling you it is our only power...same goes for these bank bailouts....just remember who is getting the bailouts and who is not using the money to help the small business.

I just came here to say it's a shame to see Morning Light get a DVD only release, since it looks fantastic in high-def.
