Default 'Dark Knight' sets another record

Will Batty be the 'Air Force One' for Blu-ray?

BTW, just in case anyone thinks I'm making totally random references, I had this in mind with regard to 'Air Force One' -

So there for people wondering if it would sell the million first month.

At least the copies will be out there in those numbers.

Beat me to it, Timeframes for the releases are virtually the same on each format as well.

and to reminisce a bit more, I remember picking up The Matrix in 9/99 and recall how absolutely blown away I was by the release.... The entire website archived on the DVD, the script running in tandem with the movie on DVD-ROM, the red/blue pill extras-on-demand feature, and of course the PQ and AQ. So for me personally the question is not whether Dark Knight live up to Matrix's sales or not... it's will Dark Knight as a BRD live up to the quality that that first Matrix movie had in DVD's then relatively young life?

I'm curious - will this also ship the most DVD's out ever as well? I wonder what the title to beat is as far as DVD goes (Titanic?) - because I wouldn't be surprised if this beats not only Blu-Ray's records, but DVD's as well...

I've already got it pre-ordered on Blu-Ray myself .

Also, I wanted to add on to what borghe said:
I was there as well buying it day and date - hating the weird paper case with plastic flap. Although I've owned it for the past decade and have triple dipped on it so far (may quadruple dip eventually when the 10th anniversary blu-ray comes out) - I never ran the script in tandem with the movie. Had I known about this, I definitely would have though! I practically have in memorized now but if I could hop in a time machine and inform my younger self I would - that's certainly cool.

One of my favorite features though was the alternate audio tracks - I can not recall how many times I watched the Lobby scene with the music-only track listening to the Propeller Heads with my subwoofer shaking the house.

All in all, I do believe the Dark Knight will be Blu-Rays Matrix (first million+ seller) - but I also hope it offers the same revolutionary special features that the Matrix DVD provided over the Matrix VHS. Rather than the same DVD bonuses and some evolutionary features... Then again, I guess the Matrix DVD's features may not have been revolutionary if you were coming off LaserDisc oppose to VHS huh?

What I believe will be the equivalent of the music-only track on the Matrix is the IMAX-version of Dark Knight where it jumps from 2.35 to 1.85 or whatever for IMAX shots. Although, I will probably watch the constant-aspect-ratio version with friends and family so they don't get annoyed and ask me why it keeps changing .

Best Buy's prices for the regular and "special" ones are about the same price as Amazon plus a pre-order gives a free poster. I think it will go over the 1.5 million mark.

Excellent find on the article. Funny that 112k units of the film and 350k players shipped/sold was considered a bull market for DVD but, millions of discs shipped and millions of players sold for blu and or red equal a niche market.
