Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD release of Blue Planet (IMAX) on 31st July 2007 priced at $28.99 SRP each. From the unique vantage point of 200 miles above Earth's surface, we see how natural forces - volcanoes, earthquakes and hurricanes - affect our world, and how a powerful new force - humankind - has begun to alter the face of the planet.
This 42-minute IMAX documentary feature is presented on a single-layer Blu-ray Disc or HD DVD and features a 1080P 1.78:1 Widescreen transfer, English and French 5.1 Surround (Dolby Digital on Blu-ray Disc, Dolby Digital Plus on HD DVD), English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround and optional English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles. Both include a bonus feature, The Dream Is Alive, a 36-minute documentary which takes you on a journey into space alongside the astronauts on the space shuttle as they orbit around the Earth, floating as never before over the towering Andes, the boot of Italy, Egypt and the Nile. Witness firsthand a tension-filled satellite capture and repair and the historic first spacewalk by an American woman. http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=64774

Pretty cool.
Not be confused with the BBC's The Blue Planet: Seas of Life, which after Planet Earth's success, wouldn't be a surprising announcement at some point. |
