Default 'Night of the Living Dead' (UK Import) - High-Def Digest Review

As a Halloween treat, Josh has reviewed 'Night of the Living Dead' (UK IMPORT), which he says is a true horror classic. This UK Blu-ray isn't perfect, but it offers a decent presentation of a film of this age, as well as some good supplements. NOTE - the studio has locked the disc to Region B, which will limit the number of viewers in North America able to import it. Worth a look for those with the proper setups!

Ha! For once, the tables are turned! Locked to region B! See what a pain in the posterior this is? SEE?!

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

Oh yeah, the movie... a must have, obviously. Next stop, amazon.co.uk.

Heavily into necrophilia - still enjoying 'dead' HD DVDs.

That's the first thing I said when I seen the title, "Isn't it locked?!!"

Oh well, fair is fair Good thinking

BTW, I think it wold be a good idea to edit the original post, by bringing the Note down a couple of lines and Bold it

Make it look like this:

And yes, I know the review says it, but never hurts to stress it

Oh I was just thinking about how much I want this movie last night after I ordered Dawn of the Dead from Amazon.

Too bad it's region locked. I may have imported it for $20.

Thanks Josh for reviewing this disc. I wish Weinstein was still releasing it here in the US.

Default Hmm..

Could this movie really look any better? Is there any point in waiting for Weinstein to release their own disc, or did they maybe figure that it wouldn't reach their BD standard and dropped it? I read about the "noise in the grain", could better compression help this particular transfer? Or do I simply accept that this is the best NOTLD I'll ever get to see, and buy it?

Honestly, I don't know. I suspect that the movie could look better. But whether it will look better I have no idea. Weinstein's High-Def releases have been pretty hit-or-miss in quality.

Remember that the import is locked to Region B.

So what would it take to play this disc in the US? I'm assuming my PS3 is no good here.

the discontinued lg200 dual player will allow it to be played.
other than that I have no idea.
have heard of no other ways to defeat the Region B locks except for pc based watching.
hopefully the upcoming Oppo bd player will be all region.
saying that people in NA are limited in watching this is an extreme understatement imo considering they must own this specific player IF they
own a US based bd player.
the other option--import an overseas bd player.

Hm. Based on the description of the video, I'm thinking this could look better. I remember being dazzled by the laserdisc and DVD Elite Entertainment put out. A BD from their source elements would be something to see.

I've got the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD. I know you may have heard bad things about it, but I've got to tell you: Never buy the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD.

As mentioned by a few others, the easiest solution is to pick up an LG BH200, which is on clearance at Best Buy now. You can switch the player's regions with a simple remote control hack.

The other alternative is to buy a modified player, or have your existing player modified. JVB Digital is a popular option for that. However, this route will typically be very expensive.
