Default 'Death Race' -- pre-release thread

Universal has set a December 23 bow for the Jason Statham action remake:

    http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/deathrace.html

There's no tech specs or extras yet, but details should arrive soon.

However, Uni has confirmed via a trade ad to expect theatrical and unrated versions on the same disc, Digital Copy and BD-Live extras (TBA).

    MSRP is $39.98.

I saw a demo of this last week in Hollywood. It looked pretty good although the colors were very muted. Sound from the DTS MA track was kick ass however. Lots of big explosions and car chases - mindless action that should sound really nice on your system.

Universal has a tendency of ruining covers when they hit Home Video...(e.g Atonement, The Strangers, Incredible Hulk) now this crap. Can that cover be any more shittier?

Day 1 purchase for me. I'm a sucker for a fun, action packed flick. Didn't expect on Oscar winning performance, so no biggie here with the poor reviews. I also loved the fact that (I read somewhere) the director pretty much refused to do any CG bits because he wanted to keep it as real as possible.

Statham was pretty bad ass too, as expected.

me too. i really enjoyed this in the theater. i watched DeathRace 2000 just before seeing this and spent a whole 10 minutes trying to figure out who the new Frankenstein would be.

natalie martinez looks very hot on that cover cant wait to see her in Highdef, i cant wait to own this onbluray in december one of favorite guilty pleasure movies of the summer. i loved the way they tied it into the original movie by having david carradine reprsieing his old role and do the voice over work of frankenstein at the begining of the film.
