Default "Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder" (2009) / February 24th 2009

Quote:
It's not long now - just a week and a half - until Fox's release of Futurama - Bender's Game on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. This is the third of four direct-to-video productions of the popular animated series, and fans are already looking forward to the fourth and final feature-length story featuring Fry, Leela, Bender and the rest of the gang at Planet Express. Each feature will air on television, broken up into half-hour episodes, at some point after their video release.

Now we've got the scoop on the release date for that final release! We've learned from a reliable industry source, who requested to remain anonymous, that Futurama - Into the Wild Green Yonder will be available on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc beginning February 24th. The source also informs us that this will run 88 minutes long, and will be chock-full of bonus material, just like the other three direct-to-video releases. Cost is expected to be the same as the pricing on Bender's Game: $29.99 SRP for the DVD, and $39.98 SRP for the high-definition Blu-ray Disc version.

Keep in mind that this is early info, and could be subject to change (but we don't anticipate that it will). No details are available yet on that bonus material, nor do we have package art yet. But stay tuned and we'll keep you updated as soon as we can!

Can't imagine why anyone would buy them on their own. Weird they started with the 3rd one.
Definitely wait for a full collection.

Damn, I was hoping that the announcement was for the first 2. Hope we don't have to wait too long for them.

Why would you wait for the full collection? You can watch it on blu-ray NOW or wait months or years for the first two to come out. Gee not a hard decision. If the first two come out on blu-ray i'll buy them and put them on the shelf next to the most recent two. Why would that be a problem?

i am definitely buying a copy, but... I wish Fox Home Video would understand that $40 list price is just too damned high. it ought to be $30 list. more units would get sold. at this rate they are doing their best to keep blu-ray a niche format like laserdisc.

and as for waiting for an entire blu-ray collection? not on Futurama. It needs all the sales it can muster. We need this series to continue!! or have more movies.

Futurama as a show is discontinued....

Their were only 4 planned direct to video films - Wild Green Yonder is the last of the 4.

Does this mean that there won't be any more DTV movies? No, not at all. It does mean that this is the last of what they have planned for the fututre of the show - at the moment.

Futurama is sort of on pause for the time being.... will it continue eventually? Maybe. I'm guessing it depends on if the movies continue to be profitable and if the cast and crew want to make more.

exactly my point, for Futurama to continue past these movies, they need to succeed in dvd/blu-ray sales, then have good ratings on cable.

so, if you like futurama and want more, please buy all of these movies on Blu-Ray or DVD.

I don't believe that that's ever going to happen as the series was shot on SD.

They actually make jokes about being in SD that would be ruined.

where did you read that because my understanding was that they and the simpsons had moved onto HD some time ago Its not stored in any particular HD format but the show is compiled and archived completely in digital format which lends itself to being in HD some day.

Any who I AM HUGE FAN of the show and the last disc on Blu Ray was awesome. They really need to not only get the first two films on Blu Ray but they should be allowed to make new films for as long as fans like me will buy them.

Hey it may not break any sales records but I would have to think it would be a steady sell for a long time to come.
